jwealleans
And why not? he's a Splendid Engine. There's been more than one Thomas Circus van on Grantham for several years, but no-one's ever asked about them. RMweb Premium 31A Posted May 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 8, 2020 Agree with LNER K4. But I have always thought the BR 76xxx Class 4s have a certain purposefulness about them .... 1 1

RMweb Premium thegreenhowards Posted May 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 8, 2020 Like others I’m struggling for a graceful mogul, so I’ll go for the brutish power of a K3 which also happens to be my favourite. 2
CUTLER2579
Has got to be a K2 but the 76xxx BR Mogul runs it close.
2750Papyrus
Agree it has to be a K2 but can't agree about the BR standard. The Southern moguls with their smoke deflectors have character also.
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted May 8, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 8, 2020 Oh where did yesterday go? I was tied between the Claud and a D20, and.....forgot to post, got side tracked and the day was gone! 2-6-0's I don't have a strong opinion on (unusually!) I don't find them a particularly interesting design for some unknown reason. Maybe a K2 or Crab. The 4MT standard also, but not the 3 that looks under fed. Ah got it - Ivatt 2. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 8, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 8, 2020 Another lovely sunny day draws to a close, and events at PN are moving that way smartly too. Southbound fish from Hull tells us that the evening is quite well advanced. while a Class C from KX goods to Dringhouses brings a very smart V2.
manna
G'day Folks I'd go for the 'rough rider' K2, but I also like the look of Stainer's 2-6-0 5mt manna

I'm actually split between Stanier mogul and the K2 (without Westinghouse and definitely with GN cab). But if I have to pick one its the Stanier mogul. CCGWR
Here's my two bobs on the 2-6-0. GWR 43xx best, hands down. Also don't mind the look of the LBSCR Ks, they have a purposeful look about them. Don't mind the look of most moguls that I think of it although never thought much of the LNER K3, too out of proportion. Connor

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 9, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 9, 2020 Morning pictures start with something slightly unusual, as there has been a slight step back in time. 60139 Sea Eagle is coming in with a Hull express, but this can't be August 58, as 60139 by then had a different boiler fitted by then. So, this is from the archives, and gets put in the middle of the sequence for some unexplained reason. We return immediately to normal, and it must now be very late August, or possibly early September, as Grantham's 60054 didn't get released from Plant till 29th. Oh, the perils of trying to stick to a specific time period. The train is the 5.35 Newcastle. Now I shall analyse the 2.6.0 poll results, which look like a two horse race, involving an interloper from foreign lands to the West.
bigwordsmith
Sea Eagle must have been going at a helluva lick to blow those lamps halfway up the irons! Doncha just love the camera! SWMBO is of on errands this am so I might just get to go up the loft..... Edited May 9, 2020 by bigwordsmith 1
RMweb Premium great northern Posted May 9, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 9, 2020 It were close this one, but the local favourite, the K2, won by a short head from something called a 43XX, with the K4 coming in third.
