AndyID
The film "Anastasia" was on TV here last night. There are some nice railway sequences when Bergman and Bryner are on their way to Denmark (post-war I suspect). The Paris Metro also makes an appearance in the background in some of the shots but the motive force might well be bits of string. Reasonably convincing none the less.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted July 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 14, 2019 Evening all from Estuary-Land. I wonder how many watched the Cricket World Cup worldwide, there seemed to be as many Indian fans at Lords today as there were either English or New Zealanders.

Robert
Morning All, We have a somewhat overcast and cool morning, but it is not unpleasant. The weekend was quiet. Saturday was rather wet, so didn't get an awful lot done but yesterday was better. Time for a coffee! Have a good day everyone... 15
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 15, 2019 Mooring Awl, Inner temple hare, Nearly 8 hours sleep though interspersed with many rollovers and find a new comfortable position. Yesterday I sucessfully avoided all over paid people, whether on 4 black balls (Ben thinks they are balls), two narrow things while crushing other balls, hitting a yellowy ball or a red one that is some times sugar coated if you are Austrailian.. I should have just one major system to do this week, but there is a growing backlog of "shrapnel " that needs catching up with. With the chair in the boat now in position, thoughts now turn to steering gear, basically it will be either floor mounted flaps to press, or a verticle pole with a cross bar to push.. Here's one possibility Time to.... check the company spam before strolling down to the lab.. 17
Popular Post chrisf
Good morning one and all, with warm thoughts to Bill and to Mrs Rick Quite a busy week for yours truly - collect meds today, have smart gas meter fitted tomorrow, Area Group lunch on Wednesday, welcome BT engineer on Thursday in the hope that he can find what has been making my broadband drop out so often. Before all that I need to find somewhere to put the car so I can unload it after the long weekend. Kingzance, how could you possibly know that someone would give me a rainbow bow tie?! My aunt and I enjoyed lunch on Friday. She is bl**dy marvellous for 95 but I fear that her short term memory is starting to go as she asked me no less than six times where I would be staying over the weekend. Oh dear. I took some time to explore the centre of Bristol around Friday teatime - little things like locating bus stops and, believe it or not, a nightclub not unknown to my e-friend Harry. There is a story to follow. Saturday was devoted to matters Pride related. The parade had a new departure point whose location was not entirely clear from the map in the programme but the marchers appeared from all directions and must have exceeded in numbers the 12,000 of last year. The festival has a new home, the Downs quite high above Bristol. It had outgrown its old one quite spectacularly and looks set to grow into the space available in a year or two. Sunday saw me at Hatfield House for Folk by the Oak which was very good but a combination of creeping fatigue and a sense of "follow that" after Grace Petrie's set had me heading home before the end. The story to follow involves the unlikely combination of me and a nightclub. Be patient, gentle reader, for now is not the time. Soon, I promise ... RMweb Gold Kingzance Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 15, 2019 Dull here so not “fair and clear”, hopefully we won’t get the prophecied two winters then! SWMBO has made muggertea, cacophony from CowboysRUs has started with the slow movement and they are yet to reach a crescendo. Hope all goes will for Mr & Mrs Rick particularly but also those facing challenges today. Back later.
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 15, 2019 Ey up! Sunny here! Strangely cricket is played in the USA..I umpired a ser of Lads from the USA last week. A semi professional T20 league has been set up in Florida. A much more skilled game than baseball. During his time flying about Africa in WW2 my old man played against an American services team. RAF bus beat the m at American Football and Baseball, then they tried cricket. ..not good.. Like Jamie I have a hedge to cut today. It is a blackthorn and very old so has enormous thorns. Armoured gloves to the fire I think! Enjoy your day and positive thoughts to all who ail or are missing Baz
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 15, 2019 Good morning everyone It’s a sunny start to the day here in the northwest of England. Breakfast has been consumed and Sheila is getting ready for her Zumba class. Yesterday when I was in the garden I gave the old table and chairs a thorough inspection and have decided that they are past it and not worth spending anytime on them, so they are going. So, once Sheila has set off, I’ll make a start loading the car with 8 buckets of rubble and a the table and chairs then I’m off to the tip. Upon my return I shall make myself a well earned muggertea and put a cake in the oven before heading back to the shed to get the stuff needed for our day out to the RHS flower show at Tatton Park on Wednesday. We shall be meeting up with a couple of friends who have now also members of the RHS (Wednesday is members only day). Hopefully the afternoon will be less busy, as the plan is to go swimming tonight after tea. Rick, I hope all goes well for Sharon. Enjoy the day, back later.
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 15, 2019 (edited) Morning All Nice bright day here. Rick - hope all goes well for your wife this morning. Everybody else, generic greetings are on offer to the ailing and the celebrating. LASAR this morning, then pick up 30747 from work (where I dropped her about 7.45 this morning). Back later/tomorrow Regards to All Stewart ps - Bill has been posting in the last hour on other threads, so he appears to be OK. RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 15, 2019 Good morning all, Dull but dry here but the cloud should break and a fine, warm dry day with sunny spells is forecast. Hope things go well for Mrs. Rick. Late start for me, had a bad night and aching all over at the moment. There is still the aroma of next door but one's huge family BBQ yesterday. They are a very nice Sri Lankan family and there were some amazing smells wafting around and they were cooking for hours. (TBH their cooking doesn't always smell like that! ) Nice to note that they were cheering England on in the cricket. Apparently a visit to Sainsbury's is "essential" and then this afternoon I may just watch some men riding up and down hills on bicycles. Whatever I do today will be in first gear and very slow. Having a good one, Bob. 14 1
RMweb Premium Dave Hunt Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 15, 2019 It's sunny and breezy here this morning. We've just had all our hedges and trees cut back by professionals as they were so overgrown that it required specialised equipment and resulted in three lorry loads of rubbish being removed - well outside our own resources. It took them three full days and cost a small fortune but means that it should be a lot easier to keep on top of things in future. I spent most of yesterday in the workshop making a po*nt for my new la**ut, the results of which can be seen over on the Midland Railway Company topic. I also sorted out flights etc. for our annual trip to Spain in October to stay at a friend's place in a lovely little village in the Andalusian hills. It was a bit more complicated than usual as Dad is coming with us and since breaking his hip is not very mobile but the airline was very helpful. Off to a Probus committee meeting this morning followed by lunch but nothing else of note happening. No doubt the main topic of conversation will be to do with leather on willow. Good wishes for all those ailing or suffering with particular thoughts for Rick and Bill. Have a good day everyone. Dave

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 15, 2019 Morning all. Cloudy here but quite warm. We have been to the tip to recycle a lot of wood, well when I say a lot I mean a Fiesta boot full. When we first had a dog, Aditi insisted he must have a kennel as all dogs in literature have them. Robbie didn’t ever use it. So I was going to tidy the kennel up and let it go to,anyone who may find it useful. However it fell apart when moved so I broke it up and we went for a shirt drive to Canvey this morning. After a cup of tea we will set off to Bluewater (for non locals, a shopping centre not far from the Dartford Crossing on the Kent side. I need some new formal clothes and Aditi wants to buy presents for our nieces. There are similar shops in Chelmsford but they are smaller. Have a good day. The Lurker
2 hours ago, Coombe Barton said: Rounders, as played in primary school. Apparently not as often as it used to be; primary school level quick cricket is played by the girls too, with the result that rounder is falling out of favour. I wonder if they still play stoolball as well at my old primary school? We didn't play it often, there was only one teacher who organised it in PE. greetings all, from a slightly cloudy LBG. Like many here, I spent plenty of time juggling my sports watching. The British GP had plenty of feisty wheel to wheel racing and as usual these days ended up with Vettel making a mistake. The cricket was a nailbiter, and Mrs Lurker enjoyed all 4 1/2 hours of the Men's final. In that time, we also entertained my parents. Have a good day all, and thoughts with Mrs Gwiwer - hope the results are good and that the anxiety is quelled
Popular Post Simon G
Lovely day here today so far. A good part of today has been spent making some gooseberry chutney, which I think turned out rather well. The only downside is that the kitchen will smell of it for about the next week! At least if the weather holds, we will be able to keep the windows and doors open.
Ian Abel
Thoughts with Mrs Rick, hope results are good. Monday moaning all. Busy weekend as the "move" gets closer. Good news is I got the internet/cable TV setup working. Turns out you can initiate a new service and have both locations overlap upto 30 days. So got most everything working Saturday, meaning it's one less thing to do next weekend. Major benefit as I need the internet to work and there'll be no discontinuity of service now. Other than that, just busy boxing carp, cleaning windows/moving carp around in the new place, blah, blah. Electrician is SUPPOSED to be completed by Thursday, sure is pushing the limit though. If he was done and the new door had arrived/installed we could actually start moving smaller boxes with the car! Buqqer we were tired at the end of both days and we've not even started moving heavy stuff yet! Was hot and humid all weekend here into the bargain, 34 for the high both days 25 and cloudy this AM already, another 32 for the high even with the cloud cover. Some thunderstorms forecast also. Carry on... 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted July 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 15, 2019 Good morning from a damp and overcast Newport OR. Was a lovely day yesterday walking between bars around town. Even saw a whale right by the rocks north of here. Unfortunatley the website says I cant upload more than 10mb despite not uploading any today so no photos. Eugene today.
