i dont mind ironin either - as long as I have some music to listen to.

I'm sure the esteemed members here could suggest some suitable tracks.

Iron Lion by Fairport Convention (it is also a train song)

Morning all, nothing as exciting as domestic chores here yesterday, apart from a bit of shopping, No sign of a sunrise yet either. Todays work task will be to try and get fire supression system to fit into some electrical cabinets....sounds easy but here is going to be a challenge.

Never mind, all part of life's rich tapestry .............enjoy your day,

Morning All,

It is a rather dreary morning here. Very definitely November weather. I didn't sleep incredibly well either.

As far as ironing goes, I must admit to actually quite enjoying it. There are far worse jobs that have to be done around the house. Pop on some music, or a film and get the ironing board out!

Have a good day everyone...

Me too! Although 90 minutes at a time is going overboard ( ahem!). I find ironing quite satisfying, usually accompanied by R4, and would often complete some about 5 am before work. Now I'm retired that doesn't happen!

Wishing all those who work a good week and the same to those who don't!

Morning all

I'm running a bit previous, as they say (they do?). Horsey dentist due at 9, and I have to get the little darlings ready for him. They do NOT enjoy having his Black & Decker-y thing stuck in their mouth. Horses teeth get sharp over time and need to be filed flat to masticate properly - I don't think we'd consider that much fun wiithout a prior injection. In the UK, it's usually the vet who does this with a rasp, but having a real dentist in our commune is much better - he specialises!

Have a good day/week, everyone!

Good morning every one,

Dull & dreary here too and 6oC. Today's forecast is mainly cloudy.

This morning I have to escort the lady of the house to the dentist. Following a recent check-up she needs 1 small filling repairing/replacing. Anyone would think that this involves unscrewing her head, kicking it around the floor & then refixing it with 6" nails.

Note to self-try to be more sympathetic.

Ha-just seen Ian's post above-shall I tell her that B & D is better than the hammer & chisel they used to use on horses......perhaps not.

Have a nice day

Bob

Morning all ( workers, non-workers & Arch Bishops ),

After a glorious days yesterday, spent crafting addition shelving in the garage to gain some brownie points ( which I lost this morning by oversleeping), today is a bit damp.

Still, off to sit a work, looking busy, until time to take all the unwanted wood & stuff to the re-cycle centre at lunch time.

Then tonight. Taken No2 Son to see Skyfall. No1 son not 100% but getting there - thanks for all your good wishes !!

Just as well we don't live in Bali then...

Heard about it when we were there, but thought I'd check it in case it was a wind up.

Talking about wind ups, a report on BBC news was really trying to big up a story about a 'devastating' fungus on Christmas trees this morning. They interviewed a professional tree grower who was very laid back and talked in terms of it affecting less than 1% of the crop. They kept trying to make a story out of nothing and were dying for him to say the prices would be going up, so I had to chuckle when he said they'd had a great year and there was an abundance of trees.

Another nail in the coffin of good journalism....

Morning all bright suny morning hear but some dark clouds about.

There is something between not working and working a good week. After I took voluntary redundancy/ early retirement I worked now and then as the mood took me and the wallet insisted I have now largely given that up. There is also the possibility of a spot of DIY tarting a place up to sell it. That is work but there is no guarrantee of any reward. There has also been a period of caring for the in-laws, bl**dy hard work, no reward, on sort of 24hr call and still unable to do enough. The nursing home are now having the same problems.

Ouch indeed!

Morning all. As it's starting to get a tiny bit lighter, I can see that it's unpleasant outside. I could hear the rumble of the wind outside but a visual inspection confirms it's wet and windy.

Off to Durham this morning, via Consett. My oldest friend is having to move house at short notice due to his letting agency not telling him until November that his landlords informed them in July that they wanted to move back into the house. He's getting the keys to a new let this morning and I've said as I'm passing I'll run his glass coffee table (and no doubt a full car load of other stuff) over to the new place (he doesn't drive).

Then Mum's getting an operation tomorrow, so that's the main reason for me heading down - to look after the dogs while Dad goes into the RVI and sits with her, and then to swap over should Dad need a break.

Hoping the drive down Gordon's old trackwork on insufficiently supported gradients the A68 won't be met with any fallen trees...
