Another exhibition is now behind us.

We were at Halifax last weekend, where we won the "Most Unusual Layout" trophy. :scratchhead:

Not sure if that's a complement?

Everything is back in John's shed, and essential repairs etc are in progress.

I spent today fixing a few signals which were faulty and then John and I completed erecting all the baseboards.

Less than seven weeks now and we'll be off to Cologne.

I also won this prize a few years back with Clecklewyke. Did you notice that a previous winner had been a Lego train set? I had a feeling of being damned with faint praise - NOT what I would think of Lime Street!

Today Rob and I were at John's for a running session in our preparations for the upcoming trip to Cologne.

First job was to install the completed front screen arches which support the end of the South roof.

Les, who has made this had delivered it to Rob for painting.

Whilst we were admiring this, who should turn up but Les, with the two towers which comprise the South end of the LNWR Hotel.

He's already posted a shot or two on this Topic, but here are a few more I managed to take.

I don't think they can fully convey the absolutely stunning effect this has on the layout.

Here the new section is in place, with the remainder of the hotel "proof of concept" parts in white beyond.

The whole building will be about 1.2metres long.

Some of the detail:

This extension to the Hotel contained the Parcels office.

Above are some the architectural details which Les has cast in resin from masters made by 3D printing.

And Les with every right to the big smile on his face as we all admired this masterpiece.

Just hoping now that Les can pack this first part of the Hotel with his luggage for the Cologne trip!

Hi Les,

well done with the Hotel, it looks superb and well worth all the effort you have put into it, really looking forward to the complete model, wonderful stuff, it would have been very difficult indeed to have scratch built it, I think you approached this very wisely indeed.

cheers

Peter

Ps: I have 'Chester General' to do lol :-)
