These are SMD LED strips i'm using for the roof lights. They still need to be positioned accurately and the wires will be tidyed up and I'm not sure whether to just paint the LED strips black or to build a case around them (something similar to what I did in post #12 in this topic http://www.rmweb.co....n-pit-lighting/ )

I'd originally planned to have "tube" lights along the walls too, but these seem to let off sufficient brightness (plus the pit ones are still to come), so I think I'll leave the wall ones.

Gave it all a jolly good weathering this evening....

Just the roof (walkways/heaters) left to sort out; the pit lighting (then I can permenantly fix the floor in position) and the furnishings.

Not sure if I'll be weathing the pits though. For some reason, before purchasing them, I was lead to believe that they came appart legnthways - that would have made weathering much easier. So if I do decide to weather them I will need to think of a method that would give a satisfactory effect. *Vac Basher puts his thinking cap on*

The shot of the two 50 cabs should go into that thread. This is really impressive and something that I really should try harder to re-create. The interior shots are just at the 'right' angle and that makes a world of difference.

Good work fella.

In the words of my avatar , " it's nicccceee".

What's the story behind 37219 ? Very large arrows of confusion , is that a Bachmann 37 fully pimped ?

hahaha Borat, the best!!

I don't have my records at hand at the present moment, but by late-1991 to early-1992, 219 was still in standard blue and already had the snowploughs; massive arials on the nose; black headcodes; and high intensity headlight (sealed beam). At around the aformentioned time she was repainted at Stratford into "eccentric blue", complete with red buffer beams, white handrails and the massive arrows.

During 1993 and early 1994 I always used to see her just about every time I was out and about, usually around Exeter, Newton Abbot and Bristol. More often than not on engineers trains, but I also saw her (and should have a photo somewhere) lending assistance to a failed 47 at Newton Abbot - actually I remember that day as if it were last week  By this time she was filthy and quite a sight. Noisey and smokey too! :sungum: I'd always wondered if 219 was the last 37 in blue, but I've been told there were another handfull....

By late 1993 the snowploughs were removed at Number Two end. And by 1997 (by which time I was no longer interested in trains) she was repainted into Mainline blue.

In the mid-2000s I remember seeing some photos of her on wnxx of her dumped at Eastleigh (?) in a very sad state. :nono:

I was surprised to find out she'd been saved for preservation and has since been returned to working order.

I was once in contact with the owner who when I showed him some photos of it in "eccentric blue" said he never knew it had carried that livery. At the moment I assume it's still in Mainline colours, but I hope oneday they'll bring it back to 1993/4 hellfire condition :sungum:

But yes, my model is a Bachmann one. I wouldn't say "fully pimped" as I didn't botther to lower it. But it has been beautifully repainted and weathered by Neil at Interespray, with custom made decals from the ever helpful John at Precission Lables and I took care of the nose detailing myself. I also added various underframe detail, including PH Design etched steps and various pipework.

For some reason the batteries in my camera didn't charge properly, despite being plugged in for a couple of days. So I was only able to squeeze out a few snaps before they, very frustratingly, went flat again. :drag:

More to come during the next few days.....

General view. Some of the features (fork lift; compressors; power unit; jacks; etc) aren't permenantly fixed in place so I'll be able to move them around to give some variation.

I want to build a work bench for the far corner there.

The floor's still only provisionally in place because I'll need to remove the pits when I add lights to them.

In a way I feal as if I've over done it with the knickknacks in there. I might remove a few bits and pieces next time I have it out. I also want to fill the bottoms of the rubbish bins because they're not sitting properly. I will also need to undertake some repairs to the structure next time I have it out as it's already falling appart in some areas

Very nice indeed, however, you appear to have slipped in a shot of the real thing ? It's the third one down of the Crompton, excellent weathering on the buffers and snowploughs, a real 'had to look twice' shot. Superb !

That's a real compliment coming from you John :)

Infact, out of this batch, that was my favorite photo too. I'm pleased you gave an objective confirmation that it was indead a good one.

Thanks ever so much! :D

Great work! Some fantastic shots there.

Is the side wall of the diorama removable? Just wondering how you get the camera in for some of those angles.

Thanks Tim!

Yes, you're correct. All four walls (and roof!) are all removable. I've had to build a small section of wall to hold the roof up for when I need to remove one wall and stick my lense through the side.

Thanks for the gen...

I had Neil do a respray for me in the past and it was excellent.

Rob, glad you were interested in some gen regarding 37219 :)

I agree with you about Neil. He's very very good.

Looks great, and even better with all that clutter lying about the place :)

Very atmospheric :)

Thank you Marc. I thought I'd overdone it a bit, but if you think it's ok I might just leave it as it is.

Thanks to each and all of you for your coments and encouragment and advice. It means allot to me and I hope you enjoy looking at my photos as much as I enjoy taking them ;)
