As can be seen, I've detailed mine a bit, added a decent cab interior in it (even though not strictly acquarate, as it came from a Hornby Class 50) and, to my eyes at least, it looks just as good as the Hornby one, perhaps even better. Best of all at just a fraction of the cost! B) Now, I'm thinking of adding a low relief building to my Bath Road diorama. This will be a portion of the shed on the left (Not too sure, but the "day shed" I think they used to call it ) I drew a plan of it but it seemed slightly small (see first photo), so I then increased the dimensions by 25% (as can be seen in the second photo). Although now I'm not too sure if it's slightly too big.... What do ye think? Are the proportions ok? (Note: If I do go with the dimensions of the second photo it too will extened as back as the first one, that is to say to include 3 window sections and 4 wall sections, even though it will measure up to be 6cm longer than the original plan, which was just 24cm in legnth) I probably won't be able to get my hands on any plasticard for a few days, so it might be a while before this actually comes into being. It was only intended as a mock-up to see if the proportions would look ok, so it may not be the deffinite version. vac_basher Posted March 31, 2012 Author Share Posted March 31, 2012 I still haven't been able to get my hands on any plasticard, so in the meantime I've made a few subtle improovements to the diormama, which can be seen here (if you know where to look) I also thought it fun to hold an "open day" event, which gave me the opportunity to get out some of my more obscure motive power. To the best of my knowledge the real Bath Road only had two open days, one in the 1960s and one in the early 1990s. Now, let's see what was on display.... Keep up the good work Jim To be honest Jim, I don't need all wheel drive on my full sets. A ModelTorque powered car will get a set up to full speed no probs, I just use two powered cars on my sets more to preserve the motors than anything, and repowering 8 PCs still cost less than buying 1 Hornby set! With regards to the look of the power car, would a spot of black behind the lights make it better and take away the 'plasticy' look of them? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Loving the video of Victorious, that was my favourite Hoover. Totally agree with you all about the HST. Marc, I really like the lights on yours. That's a big improvment. I'll have to have a go at doing them on mine. Perhaps a bit of silver/white and red behind the actual lenses might make them even better maybe. Nice photo Jonny. I wonder what the Vac with 'ploughs on road 5 was. Grimley quite right about Victorious. That was one of the better ones that got away. A very sad loss indeed. I'm guessing the Vac in the shed may have been 15 as it looks like the DCWA period of 88/89, though could have been 12 or possibly 21 though not sure if 21 had the centre plough. Scanned in loads of my old pics recently, hope you don't mind one from 1989 (undated, at the time you never think you'll forget the date/train!) . Agree she was one of the better ones that they lost. I've reccently spent a couple of evenings doing up the power unit.
