Redkiterail
Thanks for posting such a great set of photos, which just go to show what a superb exhibition it was. I do hope you enjoyed visiting the show as much as we enjoyed taking part in the event. All the very best, John. Thanks John
Horsetan
I've just had a terrible flashback: Is it my imagination, or does Brian Hanson bear a passing resemblance to "Gorgeous George" Galloway MP?

RMweb Gold queensquare Posted May 30, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 30, 2012 A few of my snaps from the weekend, starting with some of the excellent layouts and finaly, the goings on in 2mm corner. A typical Cornish scene with a slow moving caravan, (Missy Julia's), causing a tailback!! Kim and John Greenwood look out from behind Wenford Bridge. David Lane discusses the weekend with Alan and Simon on Mini-MSW. All in all a terrific weekend, Jerry

Ashley
Had a great time at the show. We had the usual spontaneous andspur of the moment CLAG team meet up. Mr. High Level kits was nice to me too. Bought Mashima motors for future re-powering projects: http://no-two-alike.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/cns-454-part-2.html Weather was lovely, but at heart I'm a Sun Bunny. RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted June 2, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 2, 2012 Set up went well and Mr Cheeseplant dropped by and expressed surprise when he saw how high the base boards were. It’s easy telling someone how high something is, but it really falls into place when you see it first hand. I did think I’d get some flack through the show for the height of the boards, but they seemed to be appreciated by those that viewed the layout. Over the course of the weekend five people that I saw actually tape measured the height and valances, Just out of interest, what height are they if you don't mind the question? It looks from one of the pics to be about 1500mm from FFL to rail level?... That last pic with the 22 is a fab shot...
RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted June 2, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 2, 2012 Theres about 3-4 inches of adjustment on the leg height and this puts the track bed on a height of 4'6" to 4'10" in old money. The fascia adds a bit more, so top of display frontage is about six and a half feet. Even with three link couplings and having to reach around view blockers the height seems to work for most adults. Giraffes still tend to complain about the Brian Monaghan helicopter viewpoint though. http://albionyard.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/img_6481.jpg Many thanks Paul - I'll do the math later back into new money I will be pitching my layouts at 1200mm above FFL as for me 2mmFS looks a lot better when viewed at a higher plane... RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted June 2, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 2, 2012 Albion's height worked well, I think. There were a couple of white knuckle moments with the 3-links but no more so than on Bawdsey. Speaking for myself, it's actually a bit lower than my home layout so I found it very comfortable, and heard a lot good comments from the onlookers about the overall effect. Even as an operator, there are some cracking "views" to be had of the layout, so it never got boring.
