Actually, arrangements do vary. In Cardiff, Hornby is still at full price in Modelzone/Smiths and in Hamleys, but in Hawkin's Bazaar (almost) everything went straight to half price and there won't be much to send back if Hornby wants it (and I doubt they do otherwise the half price sale wouldn't have been needed). I can imagine it being worth sending unsold stock in Modelzone back to Hornby. Not so much so for what little remains in Hamleys I'd have thought. From what I understand its caused by impurities in the composition of the Mazak chassis. There have probably been some others over the years less well publicised - I have TH Jinty from 1970 which has blown itself apart after 30 years in unheated cupboard.
