RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 26, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 26, 2015 Either a class 105 Cravens DMU or a D49/2Hunt. Either hold special memories for me. With regards, Rob.
Davey
A Hull & Barnsley Railway 'C' Class 0-6-0 goods engine as built by Vulcan Foundry, before being rebuilt with a 5ft. diameter boiler (Class 'B'). Davey
jessy1692
If it was me with big deep pockets (one day god willing) id pile a lot of cash into the baby deltic, class 15 and co bo projects, only proviso is I can have a drive! Also I think id just have to have a class 40, mainline registered so I can have a bit if a jolly outing. Now wheres my lottery tickets....
sub39h
Ooh, tough question - quite possibly an HST, and get it repainted in Intercity Swallow livery. Either that or 61656 "Leeds United". Hard to ignore the Class 37, 47 and 55 though. Blue Pullman? Argh...
Rivercider
For me it would be D6333 which I often saw around Exeter during my childhood, that would then make up for the sad accidental loss of 6319 cheers
GordonC
A class 50, either 50014 Warspite or 50046 Ajax, both "pet locos". I suppose something to run them on would be useful as well! Theres a cab left of Ajax at Plym valley that looks like it could do with some TLC
11B
It would have to be to be a Furness Railway 4-6-4T and an Ivatt 2-6-0 Ian
Clearwater
I'd have to go for either 7027 or one of the remaining Barry MNs. Needs a euro millions win though! So sad they're' slowly rotting away. Even cosmetic restoration and an indoors location would be an improvement
bluebottle
I want No.2007 "Prince of Wales". And I'd have it re-numbered and re-named No.2001 "Cock o' the North".
LNWR18901910
For me, it would have to be an LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0. I know because they're cool, awesome and marvellous mixed-traffic engines that 'do anything, go anywhere', and I do mean, 'do anything, go anywhere'. lmsforever
A J69 its one f the first steam loco,s I saw and its GER.
eastglosmog
Talking total impracticality, it would have to be a GWR broad gauge Rover 4-2-2, including relaying the broad gauge from Paddington to Bristol for it to run on.
TT3
BR Std 3 tank painted and numbered like the Triang model 82004 PRR M1A BR class
RMweb Premium uax6 Posted December 7, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 7, 2017 I'd be going for a Highland Railway loco, maybe a Loch or Ben, perfect for use on preserved lines. How we managed to loose such a raft of beautiful locos is beyond me... Andy G
bike2steam
BR Std 3 tank painted and numbered like the Triang model 82004 PRR M1A BR class 16 It just goes to show - yer gotta have a sense of humour, I'll go for a Holden, 'Decapod'.
62613
Go on, then; a Great Eastern 'Super Claud', as built in the early 1920s, painted green, either 8783 or 8787
wollastonblue
I'd love 7819 Hinton Manor in BR Lined black as she was the first footplate ride I ever had, and then a Splitbox 37 in Large Logo as I got to drive one for a few feet at Bescot. Titan
The class 309s. Made back up to 4 car units and restored to original maroon with wrap round cab windows and including griddle car. RMweb Premium Blandford1969 Posted December 7, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 7, 2017 As this is dreaming it would have to be a V3 or a Caley River. Having said that without very deep pockets I would never want to own one for all the regulation, cost and care that is needed to keep them in good order. RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted December 7, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 7, 2017 A Canton Britannia with the WR post-Milton smoke deflectors. Or 2906 Lady of Lynn in final Canton condition.
D854_Tiger
Mine would be a class 170, suitably converted to provide a Pullman class interior in one car, sleeping and bathroom accommodation in the other and the ability to turn down all the lights to the bare minimum. A go anywhere executive train with which to roam the entire network (preferably via obscure freight only railways), at obscure times of the day, from where I would sip fifteen year old malt whiskey on a cold winter's night, in the lap of luxury, as I observed my progress from one end of the country to the other. RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted December 7, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 7, 2017 I am really struggling with this question. Just so many to choose from. UK locos, I would probably opt for the W1, mainly for its looks. I might compromise on some of the mechanical issues to make it easier to run. But, by a small margin, I think I would want an SNCF 240P.
tamperman36
Steam loco I would choose a rebuilt merchant navy or rebuilt west country / battle of Britain. Diesel loco would be a class 58 and unit would be any of the 14x pacer units.
D854_Tiger
A class 150, so I could set fire to it.
