RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted August 3, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 3, 2011 Money no object - Black Prince. Being more realistic - Bill Smith's J52 (now at York) or a Jinty. Brian Ah Brain but which "Black Prince" the current version which is a 9F or the proper one which was a "Britannia" Terry.
RMweb Premium Pannier Tank Posted August 3, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 3, 2011 That's 3 of us want 46245 - do I detect the faintest stirrings of a new preservation society? 46256 would be nice too........... I used to see 46245 quite a lot at Bletchley, she was well looked after by Camden and then Willesden.
RMweb Premium polybear Posted August 4, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 4, 2011 Ah Brian but which "Black Prince" the current version which is a 9F or the proper one which was a "Britannia" Terry. The current one, no contest.... Brian
RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted August 4, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 4, 2011 The current one, no contest.... Brian Even though it not the right loco for the name plate. I think if I had a choice of a steam loco it would be "Black Prince" as a Britannia. Terry
ess1uk
got to be 47527 Kettering in Intercity, scrapped got the name plate though! or 43194 Royal Signals, still around but i have the name plate!!

37114
My id might give the game away..... As its scrapped if I had to choose a surviving loco I will go with 37350 being the first 37, with 37042 a close second on the back of an excellent run from Bristol to Crewe with 37010 back in 1995. Chester 175
37418 an old favourite of mine from the North Wales Coast. Now based on the East Lancs. An HST set refitted with Valentas. The most succesful train this country has ever produced.
Simon Moore
Easy peasy this one, if it was down to me it would be a Lancashire & Yorkshire railways Highflyer Atlantic 4-4-2, probably the best looking loco ever made Simon
Coldgunner
If I could time travel and had the cash, it would have to be the rebuilt W1. I have a soft spot for her, so much potential that with the unfortunate and sad early demise of Sir Nigel died along with him. Alternatively a LBSC E2 would be nice... no clues as to why
Bon Accord
Coldgunner, That is a cracking photo of the W1 in your signature. I wonder if anyone has modelled her in that form? Always surprised me that she was never given a name - only something suitably majestic would have done!
Coldgunner
http://www.rmweb.co....its-not-really/ SE finecast do a kit too, unfortunately don't have the time, funds and skill to accomplish it I nabbed the pic from lner.info btw

Sam_82C
Steam - it would have to be 5051 'Earl Bathurst' Diesel - a Class 52 Western, maybe Fusilier or Courier
Andy M
Steam: 6829 Burmington Grange (Late Crest BR Green with a Collett Intermediate Tender, my favourite 83A locomotive). Diesel: 55 003 Meld (In its final guise, I never tired of seeing her as a kid).

Simon_R
Ok so APT-E as previously suggested. Re-furbed to all Firstish class. Running at full design speed (160+ if the stories are true) operating a london to manchester, london to bham, london to Glasgow non stop service. Who needs HS2? we built it 30 years ago! Think of it as the Concorde of the railways.
34theletterbetweenB&D
For me, it would have to be Gresley's masterpiece: P2 number 2006 - the Scottish predator! If the money came my way, a new build P2 after the style of the A1 Trust's 'next in class' approach. So not treading on your toes, my 2007 would be named David Hume, for one of Scotland's greatest sons.
forest2807
My 'pet' loco is still with us, albeit in a different guise..... 47790, repainted into large logo blue, given her old number 47593 and renamed Galloway Princess. Hopefully she'll survive in preservation when DRS have finished with her, I certainly can't afford to buy her so if there are any like-minded people out there with deep pockets......
