Had a telephone call today unrelated to the exhibition but a question about the Cheddleton Hospital Railway Does anybody have any information that would help in the production of a new book to be published on the subject. Douglas G
I always enjoy the Stafford exhibition, but I am a bit disappointed there are only going to be two N gauge or 2mm layouts, especially compared to the forthcoming Nottingham show. RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted January 30, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 30, 2012 Hi Douglas G Sorry we have only the two N Gauge layouts. I very much hope you enjoy both Basingstoke & Deep Lane We will have good support for the N Gauge modeller with a number of specialist N Gauge suppliers. Hope you enjoy the exhibition, and hope to have more quality N Gauge layouts in future years. Terry Robinson Exhibition Manager
Douglas G
HI Terry, Thanks for the response. I have always wanted to see Basingstoke, so this is my chance. Douglas
ray76
I don't think Stafford like Ngauge layouts. There were only two last year also. I know of one that was invited, and then cancelled. Mine was also available. Ray
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted January 30, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 30, 2012 Hi Ray76 We are not against quality N G Layouts It is however true, as a club are trying very hard to establish a N Gauge group. We have space and funds available, and are very keen to involve the club in N Gauge modelling. As a club we have been in touch with the local N Gauge group who were invited to the clubrooms, a small group (8 or so from memory) came along and were impressed with our facilities. They offered a N Gauge layout and a couple of members and may join the club. I would like to thank Alsager club who are very much involved in N Gauge for there support in helping us with N Gauge layouts to invite to future SRC Exhibitions. I would very much like to know which N Gauge layout jyou say I cancelled.? You mention your layout was available did you contact me? As a club we try very hard to have a wide range of layouts in all scales and era, and layouts that entertain, and at a standard that you would expect to find at a quality exhibition. Kind regards Terry Robinson Exhibition Manager Stafford Railway Circle Ltd
ray76
Yes, I contacted you a couple of years ago, but you said that you only booked layouts that you had seen personally!Presumably you either didn't visit the 15+ shows that we have attended since then, or our layout was not good enough. Andy Y
Despite getting round to a lot of shows Terry hasn't yet cracked omnipresence Ray. I do think the intervention in the topic isn't particularly helpful to be honest and doesn't do your personal cause many favours. Stafford show has had a lot of good feedback over the years and I'm sure everyone will find something of interest this weekend. If you haven't been to the show before it's well worth making the effort, the weather doesn't look too bad for this weekend; especially Saturday and the event is only around 30-40 minutes from the centre of the West Midlands, acres of free parking and a bus service laid on for rail travellers. Stop knocking it and make the effort to support the event.
Douglas G
In my opinion Ray's model of Bodmin is one of the best N gauge layouts in the country, and it's the sort of layout I would expect to see at a show like Stafford. It is an accurate model of a real location with scratch-built buildings and a high standard of scenic work that shows just what can be done in N. Looking forward to the show as ever, whether as a visitor or an exhibitor. Be there or be square as the saying goes. Looking forward to the banter with the Wrecking Crew. Packing Blackmill tonight. As Stafford was Blackmill's first venture outside our own exhibition, we're all looking forward to the return trip - albeit, the layout is 20' longer than before...... Oscale
Bodmin was at the Pennine Model Railway Society's recent show in Huddersfield, alongside another excellent N gauge layout based on Burnham on Sea. This kind of large layout where the track can sprawl in the scenery are what N scale does best in my opinion. Burnham on Sea belongs to a member of the New Mills Railway Modellers and can be seen on the link below should Terry be intersted for a future event... http://www.nmdrm.co.uk/burnhamonsea.html
