Whacky Signs.

I recall Peter West, rugby union commentator in the 60s for BBC who also presented Come Dancing and It's a Knockout, and who had often clearly had an extensive and extended liquid lunch, coming out with some howlers, the best of which was at the end of a game when he asserted that the referee had just blown up in the middle of the field...

UK Speed signs are a maximum Limit (OR a minimum limit in some cases) not a target!

Both the above examples seem such a waste of a signage though.

A horrifyingly long time ago, Dad and I used to spectate at Vintage Sports Car Club race meetings, and I remember the commentary over the tannoy being by a pair of genial old buffers. You could practically hear the level in the gin bottle falling over the course of the afternoon :D

It's a legal requirement, when leaving a restricted zone. What those signs are actually doing is cancelling the restriction on the other side of the sign. They say nothing about what happens beyond them. I suspect the pier is a private road, and no legal limit applies.

But they do look funny, if you are a driver.

 Frank Kelly ,

hold my beer ,

Look closely at 22/23 seconds as a hand comes out of the window and waves to his mates .

That continuous commentary of instructions from the co-pilot, (yes they were in the air enough), was magic.

My stage notes delivery would have consisted of: -

Oh sh!t, oh sh!t, oh sh!t, oh sh!t, oh sh!t, oh sh!t, oh sh!t, oh sh!t.....................

There is a lane near here that has a 30/de-restricted sign (depending on direction).  The de-restricted part is a single file, two hundred yard dead end.  I do sometimes wonder if the highways department gets a bonus for each sign they put up.

A Lab isn't really a "hunting dog", its more of a Retriever.

The duck probably got caught in its mouth accidentally while the Lab was swimming.

Labs love swimming!   :jester:

(Friends had a Lab which found two dead bodies whilst out on walks, they dreaded it finding a third...)

So dog walkers finding dead bodies isn't just a murder mystery cliche after all.
