6202 as Turbomotive had blinkers in this photo http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/lms/lnwrns316.htm and later in the early BR era http://britishrailways.tripod.com/ex46202.html

Built without them, added about 1939, carried until re-built as a conventional loco which then didn't carry them.

I've had stuff off this seller a few times and is usually realistically priced and gives a good service. Maybe he thinks its more desirable than it is in reality.

You may well be right, but I guess this isn't necessarily aimed at railway modellers or collectors. What s he going rate for Stobart collectables?

July 2011, 27 bids and an end price of £95. Must say it's one of the most hideous contemporary models I've seen in some time.

Thanks for the information. All the photos I have seen up to now were without deflectors, but I gather that she spent quite a long time in works during and after the war due to lack of spares etc.

Off topic somewhat:

It seems the main reason for rebuilding, what by all accounts was a succesful loco, was lack of spares. I would appear it was out of traffic virtually from 1949 until rebuilt in '52

It looks like there were plenty of Coronation bits available so a hybrid was born.

It would have been nice to see how it performed once it was into it's stride, the smaller wheels would have given it slightly better acceleration than a Coronation, in theory.

Pity it lasted for such a short time as "Princess Anne".

The incompetence of some ebay sellers really knows no bounds, does it?

And of his seven items listed, only one is actually fully on the rails.

He's got this as well.  Do you think we should wind them up over on the Hornby 42xx/72xx thread?  After 935 posts (at time of writing) maybe they're running out of steam.  (Ooops sorry, looks like I'm becoming an apprentice Journo....)

Temping, especially as the Hornby model has received some serious criticism. This might be better value for money...... :jester:

Quick one with opinion needed; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-OO-R1-0-6-0-thats-beeing-converted-to-a-class-H-0-4-4-and-a-USA-shunter-/290892748079?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item43ba8f152f&autorefresh=true

Now, I've just bid on this (but am not the high bidder). Toying with going again. Not sure if I have the skill to complete this - but would it be worth it? - is this a viable conversion?

If it suddenly shoots up in price, I'll know someone is more confident than me ;) - but no hard feelings, as I say, not sure if I would be able to do anything with it anyway...

Did you get it? It had to be worth £4.47. I have considered this conversion in the past. I think the main differences between R1 and H lie in the wheelbase (incorrect on the Dublo model anyway, which inherited the N2 coupling rods - penny pinching!) and the bunker. Balancing the chassis is the problem, as with all 0-4-4s. IIRC this chassis modification was used for the Wills O2.

There was an article in the model press on this, but I can't remember where and when (apart from a long time ago).
