RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted November 29, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 29, 2013 Our Warwick friend actually. He seems to have small letters at the end of all titles, perhaps its a way of telling how long they have been on offer. With the quantity of stuff he has on ebay, he would need to have a reasonable method of keeping track of it. Perhaps the letter means source - as in a collection. Either way he must be laughing at the constant mentioning of his name/business, because his stuff must sell or he wouldn't be advertising it. None of the regulars here would admit it, but almost certainly some people from RMweb buy his stuff.
Horsetan
Why do I never see bargains like this quickly enough? I know it's not the quality of the Bachmann one and these don't go as high as they used to, but this went minutes after being listed grrrrr http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-gauge-GOOD-USED-Triang-Blue-Pullman-Centre-Coach-BARGAIN-USED-CONDITION-/221327317094?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item338822d866 It was probably listed at the request of the bidder who bought it... Can e-bay escape the law simply by saying the description is the sellers responsibility and not theirs?

RMweb Premium DIW Posted November 30, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 30, 2013 Can e-bay escape the law simply by saying the description is the sellers responsibility and not theirs? Sometimes they can, and sometimes they can't. It is ages (years) since I listed a diesel, but at the time when trying to do so, the ebay machine responded to the 'upload' click with a dire warning that I needed to be sure that the item was a genuine Diesel, and not a look-alike masquerading as such. Notwithstanding the varied opinions on this forum about which vehicles could and couldn't be described as a genuine diesel (!), the fact that the listing was in the 'Collectables - Model Trains' category and not in any clothing area of the site should really have been a big clue to the site programmers that folk with an inclination to mis-describe fashionware would be very unlikely indeed to list such clothing among model railways. But the point is, ebay took an interest there because a big corporation told them to. (Stories abound about the difficulties in trying to list unwanted products from the Chanel company - shame, perhaps they would be of benefit to certain sections of our exhibition-visiting fraternity)? The bottom line (probably) is that if Bachmann have not made enough noise about the issue then such misdirected descriptions may well continue. When they were first built you could probably buy the wagon for less than that.
