Our friend in Cartmel has a number of items ending shortly that say qa at the end.  This is a new one on me.  Anyone know what it's meant to say? Quality Assured? :boast: Quite Attrocious? :scratchhead: or what?  Qintars Accepted (Countdowners will know what I mean) :jester:

Our Warwick friend actually. He seems to have small letters at the end of all titles, perhaps its a way of telling how long they have been on offer.

With the quantity of stuff he has on ebay, he would need to have a reasonable method of keeping track of it. Perhaps the letter means source - as in a collection.

Either way he must be laughing at the constant mentioning of his name/business, because his stuff must sell or he wouldn't be advertising it. None of the regulars here would admit it, but almost certainly some people from RMweb buy his stuff.

Why do I never see bargains like this quickly enough?  I know it's not the quality of the Bachmann one and these don't go as high as they used to, but this went minutes after being listed grrrrr

It was probably listed at the request of the bidder who bought it...

Normally these go for around a fiver or less in average/good condition (£20 excellent/boxed). This bit of corroded weathered junk on the other hand........

Our lead soldier collecting friends are of the opinion that this sort of corrosion is contagious. I not sure myself, but is it worth the risk?

Are these from the new independent Scotland?

I think there's probably a way of linking a "wants" list to your account such that you get a mobile phone alert when a suitable product (in their view) is listed. Probably.

Do these look like solid underframe and no side numbers to you?  I'm thinking the H word......

To be honest the starting price was only 99 p so the seller dosnt seem to be trying to cash in directly its just the muppet who bumped the price up that high who needs pity though it seems the trade discription act could me used as he lists them as Bachmann

Probably not the place to start this discussion but who is legally responsible for the descriptions?  Can e-bay escape the law simply by saying the description is the sellers responsibility and not theirs?

Once again, "mint" but weathered by someone, and has smoke deflectors that need fixing back on!

Sometimes they can, and sometimes they can't. It is ages (years) since I listed a diesel, but at the time when trying to do so, the ebay machine responded to the 'upload' click with a dire warning that I needed to be sure that the item was a genuine Diesel, and not a look-alike masquerading as such.

Notwithstanding the varied opinions on this forum about which vehicles could and couldn't be described as a genuine diesel (!), the fact that the listing was in the 'Collectables - Model Trains' category and not in any clothing area of the site should really have been a big clue to the site programmers that folk with an inclination to mis-describe fashionware would be very unlikely indeed to list such clothing among model railways. But the point is, ebay took an interest there because a big corporation told them to. (Stories abound about the difficulties in trying to list unwanted products from the Chanel company - shame, perhaps they would be of benefit to certain sections of our exhibition-visiting fraternity)?

The bottom line (probably) is that if Bachmann have not made enough noise about the issue then such misdirected descriptions may well continue.

Well what else do you expect that you will be robbed when you buy the engine as before it lost the "MINT CONDITION" it was called "Robin Hood".

Another "price it high because it's out of stock....??  " (Even though it says 10 available, the description says "more stock coming soon")

Be fair, be fair ........ you can save money if you buy more than one.

£250 for the coal only!! Does not include the wagon!!.  At the time that the prototype wagon was built, £250 might possibly have been enough to buy a real load of coal to fill the real wagon.

When they were first built you could probably buy the wagon for less than that. In fact you could buy a 3-bed semi-detached house for not much more

If you look at their other items, it looks like this is just a mistake and it's probably meant to be £2.50.
