EBay madness

Somehow, when dealing with Tri-ang, a collection sounds so much better than a set - as indeed would my teeth  :scratchhead:

No-one would want a set of these coaches surely?

Description on EBAY. Says it all:-

hi
one day auction
bought in a job lot
EX     LMS  tank engine been weathered to a good standard (Don't think so).
paypal and uk bids only (Thank God nobody outside the UK will think this is the standard of our modelling).
I always combine /reduce  p&p after one win (Has nothing else for sale on Ebay!).

Jinties are one of my favourite little locos, but this is criminal,.

There's something about it that makes it worth a one way trip to the bin!

Further to the Tri-ang coach saga here's a set of their third and fourth* attempts, from Gostur Gostude (at his usual prices).

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIANG-Hornby-R28-R29-R224-BR-CRIMSON-CREAM-COACH-RAKE-x-3-from-1960-MIB-qa-/370902510268?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item565b832abc

If these are hard to find, it must be because so many have been thrown away.

* As far as I can tell from the photos.

There is a rather nice and indeed rather tempting weathered Hornby M7 on Ebay right now which begs the question, if you have gone to all that trouble and care to produce such a fantastic looking model, why on earth did you not check to make sure it was properly placed on the rails before photographing it?!?

I was looking for a couple of bogies for a Lima Mk1 coach. Today 3 new bogies went for £10.50 + postage on eBay, but they were without wheels. You can usually get two Lima Mk1 coaches on eBay in very good condition, giving you 4 bogies with wheels for less than £8 + Postage and you don't have to look very hard. In fact a Mk1 Restaurant car has just gone for £3 with 1 bid. So the seller of the bogies must be laughing his socks off and the seller of the coach should have pulled the bogies off and sold them separately.

Gostoodle's got one (looks like it got dropped in a compost heap) for £149.50.

Hornby R862 CROWNLINE KIT BUILT SOUTHERN SR 0-4-4 CLASS M7 LOCO 108 MIB my

So it's 'kit built'

All his weathered locos look the same - rubbish - does he buy up otherwise decent stuff and then desecrate it, or does he have a supply of dreadfully weathered 'kit built' stuff?

That, and many of his other extortionately-priced rubbish, has been circulating for a good long while now......

Yet another 'misdescription'. Kit built it isn't.  Mint-in-box' it isn't. This would imply that it is totally unmarked and in its original box.

No' as far as I know this stuff is all bought as job lots at 'toy' auctions and then moved on ebay at these prices.

As we have said before on here that there must be buyers and 'collectors' who will pay these ludicrous prices. Goodness only knows why.

Has anybody ever seen him actually auctioning anything?

Looks like anything in Dynamic Lines is the new Yellow.

£158 for a FGW TGS with what looks like a mismatching roof.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-First-Great-Western-R4372-Mk3-FGW-TGS-Coach-/171334594678?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item27e4567076

Whilst the same seller is asking £99 for the other Mk3s.

£80 for the new Coach C which is available for £30 from several Hornby Retailers.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-first-great-western-coach-/251535675347?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a90b1cfd3

I know some of the Mk3s are harder to get hold of than others, but given the age and quality of the Hornby Mk3, why do people really go that mad for them?!
