They then wrote me a lovely email telling me that I had been naughty and broken their rules for listing items in the incorrect categories, and if I did it again they would drown some kittens or punch a baby penguin or something. They, in their infinite wisdom, went on to advise me the best category in which to list similar items in the future. Wasn't that nice of them? The items in question were 2 empty Hornby wagon boxes. I had listed them in Collectables; Trains/Model Railways, which seemed to me to be an obvious choice, seeing as that category usually lists many other empty boxes for sale from other sellers. Ebay advised me to place them in Everything Else;Other. I wouldn't really think that would exactly maximise their exposure to the people who are most likely to buy them, would you? Muppets. Grrrrr. I just wish they would do this sort of QC more often. Speaking as a buyer rather than a seller. There are many listing that clutter up the few searchable categories. Items listed under locos that are definitely missing a loco, are but the tip of the mess that is ebay. Magazines that seem to be Finescale, along with other general components from broken Triang and Dublo - I could go on ... I rarely search for things by category but by description. What does everyone else do? It has virtually become impossible to search ebay with any conventional search unless you are looking for something very specific - and even then you end up with loads of items that are not even remotely related. I had about 20 regular searches usually for kits/locos/layouts but it was becoming difficult to exclude the unwanted dross. I now put in a regular * for everything ignoring the BIN (usually over inflated optimists) and simply skim the results with the PgDn key. My eyes seem more able to filter than ebay and so what if I glance past some "bargain" ... there will be another. One thing I would wish ebay to do is to enable a black list of sellers so you never get to see those junk sellers. 2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ah that will be the ones missing on a Lima 31 recently for sale "without handrails" .... I do hate this trend in dismantling items to sell the component parts as if they are genuine spares. Especially those photographed with a wood grain background and look as if they were just removed from something hit with a hammer or having undergone some experiment with gravity.
