RMweb Premium newbryford Posted January 25, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 25, 2013 If you think that's bad have a look at Cartmel's attempt to both present something as 'mint' and 'enhanced'. The finest untouched mint boxed R357 you could ever find wouldn't make £145 so why turning the front into a glorified Christmas tree would help is anyone's guess http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRI-ANG-Hornby-RAILWAYS-R-357-BR-CLASS-31-A1A-AIA-D5572-DIESEL-LED-LIGHT-MIB-/271090399169?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f1e3f37c1&_uhb=1 "In original condition with additional fitted lights" ???? carl1962
Heres a nice "weathered" autocoach... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-AIRFIX-RAILWAYS-No-54257-O-B-R-DIDCOT-AUTO-COACH-/271092876007?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f1e6502e7 and how much is it? The weathering looks like they spilled some grey paint on the side when they repainted the roof and tried wiping it off, and failed.
carl1962
just noticed its in "original excellent condition with weathering " despite having 2 roof vents missing a repainted roof and a splodge of grey paint on the side.

Mick Looks more like a class 70 to me! just noticed its in "original excellent condition with weathering " despite having 2 roof vents missing a repainted roof and a splodge of grey paint on the side. That'll be the "light weathering" - well it looks a light grey paint to me...

Steve K
Refreshing honesty; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4mm-00-EM-P4-LMS-Scratchbuilt-3F-body-chassis-kit-DREADFUL-Scrap-it-/200884615017?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2ec5a7f769 Mike. Indeed, and his little paragraph at the bottom about Ebay's rating system is very telling, too. What king of world is it where 4/5 is effectively a terrible stain on the seller's character. I had no idea that sellers with less than 4.3/5 get temporarily suspended. Is that really true?
royaloak
Indeed, and his little paragraph at the bottom about Ebay's rating system is very telling, too. What king of world is it where 4/5 is effectively a terrible stain on the seller's character. I had no idea that sellers with less than 4.3/5 get temporarily suspended. Is that really true? I only ever rate 5 stars (or leave it blank) unless the seller has been seriously off. The rating system is nothing more than a (dangerous for the seller) gimmick that I think is trying to put off the small time seller so ebay can consentrate on the online shops, ie where the money is.

RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted January 27, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 27, 2013 Code 1/2/3 started with model autos as a way of telling what was what. Code 3 was never meant to include things painted with a tar brush, rather 'well executed' jobs eg restoration of an old Dinky to a good state at a price that was afforable.
