Among his many selling tactics was flogging the old Dapol plastic kit for the prototype Deltic with a picture of a fully finished, painted and running kit at an exorbitant price but you of course only got the basic bits of plastic in a bag for your cash. Ebay provides disturbing glimpses into the darkest corners of the model railway hobby - what really occurs in bedrooms, sheds and attics up and down the UK.
