The Fall & Rise of the 60's ( was The End of the Tugs?)

Recommended Posts

Two shots of 60093 just south of Cogload junction, sorry I don't know the dates they were taken (lost my notebooks in a housemove) but I'm pretty sure they were consecutive evenings.

Interesting that on the second day somebody had cleaned the cab sides.

Considering that this thread started back in December 2009, those tugs are still hanging in there and earning there keepl

That still happens with DCC!!

DCC is perfect for re-enacting the scene - what was actually happening is 60057 is reversing it's train (having run round) under the coal reclaimer at the Liverpool Bulk Terminal, 60051 is arriving on the next set of empties for loading.

As I was in the East Midlands and the sun was shining, I ventured down to Lockington on the Stenson Jn - Sheets Stores Jn line on Saturday for a shot of the Kingsbury - Humber empties, which had 60020 at the helm. Unfortunately the vegetation is becoming a bit of a problem at this location (like many others), and an encroaching tree to the left of the picture forced me to try a portrait shot.
