RMweb Premium Ian Morgan Posted December 1, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 1, 2023 (edited) I was, sort of, hoping to get an invite to Doncaster so I could get the full set of plaques. I have the ones for Alley Palley and Bristol, and left a gap on the fiddle yard display board just in case. Pyewipe Jct
I found myself in York for a couple of weeks back in November & visited the NRM to pay my respects to this old stager - not the easiest thing to photograph, but hopefully you get the idea 🙂 Edited December 2, 2023 by Pyewipe Jct
RMweb Premium CF MRC Posted December 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 3, 2023 Being tinplate Bing, that LNWR Precursor isn’t going anywhere fast. We have one and train at the MRC. Tim
Graham R
The 2mmSA Forth and Clyde Area Group manned the Further North roadshow at a very busy Glasgow show this weekend. We opted not to bring Mearns Shed due to space issues. Jim Watt and Simon Hadwin are doing the explaining here; Martin Macintosh also happily kept visitors abreast of his weathering techniques.
SouthernBlue80s
Hi I know nothing about 2mm. I want to buy track and not build it. There are several manufacturers of it. My layout will be early 1980s British Rail. What is the ´finest´ most detailed track that is off the shelf. Is it peco bullhead? Thank you
Caley Jim
If you want ready made track you will have to stick with N-gauge standards. Sorry, can't help with the 'finest' RTR track. Having said that 2FS Easitrac plain track and turnouts are straight forward to assemble. For turnouts all the parts are provided, ready prepared. Thank you There is no ready-to-lay 2mm 2FS track, I think there might be quite a few people using it if there were! Peco track is 9mm N gauge, either code 55 or code 80. Both are flatbottom. Code 55 is 'finer' than code 80. British Finescale produce N gauge Bullhead in both N gauge and 2FS which looks far better, but these are kits not RTL.
RMweb Premium Ian Morgan Posted March 10 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 10 (edited) It was lovely to see Burnham-On-Sea again at the Basingstoke show this weekend. I thought I had taken a photo, but now I find no sign of it on my phone. I also intended to capture a video of the man winding the winch for the lifeboat that is working again now, but I forgot to do that as well. Memory like a ...... round thing with holes in it? I blame the meds Edited March 10 by Ian Morgan 1 1

Popular Post Sithlord75
We had the Australian Supermeet last weekend (12-14 April). This was the ninth in 11 years (thanks Covid!) and the first where instead of spending most of the time building, we had a layout to play with. "Wansbeck Road" took the road trip from SEQAG HQ in Burpengary to Colo Vale (a mere 1064kms each way) to be admired by those travelling from Wodonga, Albury, Canberra, Campbelltown, Sydney and the Central Coast of NSW. One of the visitors bought his collection of scratch built (from brass sheet in most cases - and lumps of brass for the bits which couldn't be made out of sheet - the only purchased bits were the wheels (Fleishmann - shame!), gears and motor) locos most of which belonged to the firm of JA Brown and Co. Stephen knows The Prof professionally (what is it about dentists and locos?) and in fact knew Tim before he started. I dunno what the rest of you think but I reckon his locos are in the same class. The one below was geared and DCC tuned to just crawl. It was noted it was in NSLR livery - something we had to explain to Steve! This loco unlike the other 9 was built to 1:154 scale so the drivers didn't snag each other. So close... And don't look at the wheel treads. Just to prove the talent - don't just make one, make two (as there were two purchased by Browns - one direct from Kitson's, the other from the NSW railways when they no longer needed it). 1:160 GCR RoD (or 8K if you must!). I did suggest a 1:152 version would be probably welcome in London - apparently too big so no challenge! There was one 1:152 loco and train around - just on the wrong gauge wheels so we couldn't run it properly. This is a Newcastle (NSW) steam tram from the 19th Century. Etches by the same bloke who did the hearse on CF. Ross wasn't able to make it - we had five apologies in the end - so we sent him the pic of his etches to make him feel better... richbrummitt
@TomE Thank you for the pictures. Especially good to see for those that didn’t manage to attend for whatever reason. Could you please add the layout names in your first post from earlier today. Thank you.

Seconded, and thanks to all concerned for a relaxed and engaging show that’s given me a bit of two-mill boost (despite the 300-mile round trip). With D-y-N and EB1 it was a little like stepping inside the current edition of MRJ - but that can’t be a bad thing, can it?
Sithlord75
Pleased to see Midholme as a visiting Fine-N scale layout. I saw it at Shepton Mallet in 2022 and, being a brash Aussie, encouraged Richard to come to Derby and have a look at the DJ+2 Expo, which he did. It was my first sighting of a Finetrax layout and, other than the flange ways on the points (where 2mm still wins in terms of looks and operation) it looked very, very nice. Right at home with the others I think.
RMweb Gold Revolution Ben Posted May 12 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12 Hi Tom, Wow - that Buxton layout is stunning and one of my favourite parts of the world too. Thanks to all who've posted images. I will try to keep an eye out for its next exhibition appearance. I'd very much like to see Colywn Bay Goods some time too... cheers Ben A.
RMweb Gold queensquare Posted May 13 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 13 Fantastic Derby pictures everyone. You will be able to see Bryn’s Colwyn Bay Goods at this years Larkrail along with Steve Nichols Parkend. As already mentioned, the current MRJ, 303, features both Nancy Drew and EB1. EHSUK2001
‘Midholme’ wasn’t a ‘visiting’ or ‘guest’’ layout to Expo2mm. Richard Holmes is a subscribing member of the Association, as are a significant number of other N-Gauge ‘code 40’ track finescale modellers, and very welcome they are too! We have further N Gauge code 40 layouts of similar very high quality from within the membership lined up for Expo2mm 2025 and beyond… Edward S (Events Officer). 6

I couldn’t make it to Derby but exhibited (with JBS and Ashburton) alongside Midholme at Shepton show and its excellent. It should be remembered that it’s the 2mm Scale association, not 2mm Finescale Association and whilst it rightly champions its own 2FS standards it celebrates the entire 2mm family.
