Finally got my Model Rail Subscription after saying for so many months I was going to get one, so I placed my order and registered at 2130 Monday night for the DRS Escort Coach pack, and was awoken by the postman at 0730 Wednesday Morning with a nice parcel and two superb coaches! Lightening speed delivery and dispatch. Thanks Model Rail, Chris Leigh and Kernow! :coolclear:

Chris, Model Rail have done models of a class 57 and a class 37 in West Coast livery but they have nothing to haul! Will you consider doing some WCR Mk1's and MkII's?

Paul

A couple of years ago, after we had a very nice staff trip to Sherborne behind Tangmere, (shadowed by the WCRC Class 37 that we modelled)I did put forward the idea of doing a set of three green Mk1s with a maroon Met-Camm Pullman. I have to say, the idea didn't go down well with anyone else.

I guess there would be if you just did some WCRc maroon Mk1's and MkII's !! What you said is the Geen train set used mostly on The Cathedral express.

Chris, I am sure that there would be a demand for a maroon Metro-Cammell Pullman. In these recession dominated times, buying one coach can usually be justified( to yourself at least), buying four at one go is more of a challenge! In the meantime I wish you good luck with the research on more Network Rail stock. I am the very happy owner of two of the Network Rail yellow Mk 2 coaches.

I have an idea for a limited edition. As this year is 25 years of NSE and 20 years since Rail (your sister magazine) restored D400 How about a Hornby D400 in 1991 condition? Hornby have done 50007 Sir Edward, 50008 Thunderer and 50015 Valiant so it would also complete the set of 4 railtour locos.

For those that are interested in the wider 4mm gauges or are seeking more finescale wheels in OO, you will wish to note that Ultrascale have produced some replacement wheels for the Model Rail/Dapol Sentinel. Due to their small size, these are not otherwise available from other manufacturers.

Details of these can be found here: http://www.ultrascal....uk/ucp0001.php

Typically Ultrascale have a fairly long order period, but I understand that there is a small stock of these presently in hand, so you might be lucky!

Looking forward to my delivery from Model Rail now..................

Website now has the Satlink mogo listed, in LM S & T livery.

Also a 2 coach Transpennine Mk2a pack of TSO & FK. Blurb states that Model Rail have commissioned 47 475 in Provincial Services livery, details to follow. (mid to late 80's Man Vic never looked so appealing - Red Bank sets, Manchester 08's ['Piccadily' & 'Starlet'] and now this).

Interesting that these have been announced given that I seem to recall that the RR coach packs were originally announced as TP livery with a corresponding 45/1 until Model Rail had a change of heart.

I wonder if a pack of two TSOs will be announced to follow these because to make up a rake I'd need to buy a lot of TSO/FK packs and try to sell on the FKs from all but one of them. Surely a pack of two TSOs and a pack containing the FK and a Mk.1 BG would have made more sense. Then again, perhaps Model Rail are just testing the water for coaches in this livery, but I can't help but think that a pair of TSOs would be a better starting point if that's the case.

Still welcome news, particularly with 47475 coming too.

My first thought as well when I read the preceeding post. I could be wrong but I seem to remember exacly the same thoughts / feedback were aired when the Regional Railway packs were first anounced and I believe the packs were then changed to a pack of TSO's and....... etc

We can't do a Mk2 and a BG in a pack because Bachmann can't produce a Mk1 at the same time as a Mk2. I did ask about this. The 45/1 was not a change of heart, it was dropped because Bachmann couldn't make the tooling alterations to suit the loco that we wanted.

Thanks for the reply Chris, most enlightening regarding the Mk1 and Mk2. Are you able to say at this stage whether the TSO will be available individually or as a separate twin pack? I'm not sure whether I'd commit to just a TSO/FK pack if I couldn't get more TSOs, but if I knew that these would also be released then I'd buy a full rake to replace my old Lima one.

Of course I could always pad out the rake with some blue/grey Mk2 TSOs if Bachmann ever did another run ....

At present there is a single pack containing TSO/FK. Production of further TSOs will depend on demand. Demand would need to be very strong. Particularly, because in this instance, as you say, you can run blue/grey vehicles with them.

:dontknow:

The Model Rail Offers website has a MK2 TSO twin pack in Regional Railways livery (ref.39-000H) in stock. There's also a MK2 TSO/ex-BFK twin pack (ref. 39-000M) available in the same livery. Ok, IIRC these were primarily to recreate the Manchester Club trains but I thought the livery was exactly the same as Trans Pennine except for the branding. I can't tell the difference anyway:

37414 + RR Mk2s: http://www.flickr.co...tos/5913564116/

47475 + TP Mk2s: http://www.flickr.co...tos/6065422843/

If the same then with the new Trans Pennine Mk2 TSO/FK twin pack, that's four different TSOs in the correct base livery. I don't remember the Trans Pennine rakes being much over six coaches long, but if you want you can renumber another TSO twin pack. In these circumstances I'm not surprised Chris Leigh effectively saying there will be no more TSOs. To all intents and purposes, you already have them - all you need to do is change the branding. No need even to use Blue/Grey TSOs. Or have I misunderstood completely?

One question I do have if Chris can answer, please. Will the livery of 47475 be "correct" or will it have the same beige colour as the Bachmann RR 37/4, which was wrong and which Model Rail copied deliberately (and sensibly) for the RR Mk2s so that the loco and coaches would be the same.

And therein lies the problem. The shade of lower bodyside grey on the Transpennine and Reggie Rail coaches was different. I think RR was more silver grey and it has been discussed on here in another thread but I can't find it at the moment. So not only should there be a difference between the TP and RR coaches, but then you have the issue of the 'incorrect' colour being used for the RR ones in the first place. The RR ones might be incorrect, but I don't think that they are a match for what the TP ones should be.

BTW I have both packs of RR coaches already and think they're great, hence my interest in the TP ones too.
