'CHARD
Dougie Squance used novel locations, which is great for filling-in gaps in our total knowledge. Not only do we get the uncomfortable spectacle of an A4 on freight, but a wealth of information about this nook in Gala. https://www.railscot.co.uk/imageenlarge/imagecomplete.php?id=57057
62440
Photos on Railscot attributed "Dougie Squance (Courtesy Bruce McCartney)". To put the record straight, most of these photographs were taken by the late George Kinghorn of Selkirk. Dougie was handed his collection of prints and over a conversation in a pub asked me if I would scan them. There were no negatives and nearly all of the prints were home-printed on matt paper. There were three colour slides - I think they've been on the Railscot site. When I met the George Kinghorn in the late 60s, he worked for British Relay, but perhaps an earlier job had allowed him access to parts of the track-side for some of his cracking photos. George, like me, had a soft spot for the Kelso line. I lost touch with him after I left the Borders, and it was only during a chance meeting with Dougie that his collection was mentioned. Dougie is delighted that folk are seeing George's collection. Bruce

RMweb Premium Daddyman Posted November 21, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 21, 2016 Super one here in the same collection. Very useful for me as I have model of these "Kelso wreckers" on the go. Note the missing rear window, missing battery box cover and engine-room hatches all left open. https://www.railscot.co.uk/imageenlarge/imagecomplete.php?id=56691

37175
Does that further kipper any chance of the re opening of the line, ie, are they actually on the track bed? Mike. The Steele Road plots are the opposite side of the road to the drive that leads up to Station House. If that section of the line ever gets reinstated it'd be a great view from either house! This location plan gives you a better idea of where the plots sit ... station house and trackbed left hand side. https://eplanning.scotborders.gov.uk/online-applications/files/DDC5CC1AE302359B14CA2C94992352F5/pdf/09_01307_AMC-LOCATION_PLAN-2213244.pdf All the other documents pertaining to the Steele Road plots can be found at: https://eplanning.scotborders.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=KQJ0YQNT00800 Edited January 15, 2017 by 37175
'CHARD
Meanwhile down at Mangerton, on the south-east side of the Liddel Water as the line leaves Copshaw for Kershopefoot, the Riverview Holiday Park has been established close to the river bank, in part directly on the formation, for some time. However, the slight benefit of these being wooden 'lodges' is that they are relatively insignificant structures to replicate elsewhere should the need arise. And the lightweight structures are a minor issue here, along with the loss of an accommodation bridge and infilling. Unfortunately, immediately to the north is one of the significant breaches, with the river crossing having been erased several decades ago. This bridge, extremely camera shy, is little recorded in terms of its demise too, I wonder if anyone can shed any light.... EDIT: In the aerial image, the dogleg in the lane just above the word 'Google' is the site of the accommodation bridge, the tarmac access north of it is a subsequent encroachment onto the formation. Not much though, in the scheme of things. Edited January 15, 2017 by 'CHARD

Whether this is the original footage or copied from the video is a moot point, but the editing looks similar.
