RMweb Premium southern42 Posted April 19, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2015 Mike, you're doing such a magnificent job on Dent, it's so timeless you could so easily send through a class 66 on a coal run, a First Northern DMU and the Wednesday steam Fellsman and no one would think them out of place. Just look after those knees.
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted April 19, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Thanks Shaun. The Lambretta/Dremel business sounds painfull! I take it that its polishing the airways or something like that? Edit to add... I never understood why people tinkered with engines.............my solution was to fit a BIGGER one! My pride and joy in the 70's was a MkII Cortina with a 3ltr V6 shoehorned in. Car looked great in Black with subtle Gold stripes, I spoiled it by fitting V6 badges, everyone knew what it was so I removed them and replaced them with 'Cortina' as holes were drilled. The porting on the barrel doesn't match that of the engine. We used to get in there from both sides with a black marker and remove the marked bits with a dremel. Add a progressive cone exhaust and your off. There's many stages to tuning them and the TS1 will have you hanging on for your life! I preferred Vespas myself until I got one of those Gilera 180s, 0 to 60 in 4 secs. factory standard! The best scooter is arguably the Vespa P200E. Some old mates of mine rode from Amsterdam to Dakar a couple of years ago, a trip I would loved to have done. Sorry going off topic. No layout should be without a couple of Lammys though!! RMweb Premium Physicsman Posted April 26, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 26, 2015 Mike, you don't need any kind of excuse to "play" with Dent. When/if KL2 gets to the state of finality you have here, I think I'll be in the bunker running trains non-stop! Lovely pics, and the Jubs and Brits are just about my favourite locos. Andrew P
Hi Mike, Great pics as usual and as Jeff says, once his is done and mine as well I guess we'll both be having running sessions. I was due to go around to my mate Jeff's, (Binney) for a Friday night running session but I was totally cream crackered after a busy day on Friday to had to cry off, which was a great shame as I need to run something again soon as I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. At least I can go up to our Club any time I want and have a run on the 41ft x 12ft Layout up there. Thanks again for the pics mate and hope your feeling better and able to post more again soon. 67A
Hi Jeff and Andy, Thanks for that guys, I'm also cream crackered most evenings as we are absolutely manic in work so going into the den for 2 hours each night is just not feasible right now. So if I'm AWOL for a bit you all know why. If I get chance soon I'll be having a go at: Working signals Black Beetle into a Mk1 coach (yes I bought one in the end but its very light so some weighting will definitely be required) Weathering and a million other jobs Hahaha I'm off to do some paperwork now - just marvellous! Popular Post 67A
Hi all, With a couple of days to myself I decided to do a bit of stock detailing... This was 46440 on the local stopper Just a simple dust coating to weather the stock and the addition of the loco lamp transforms the train. All the following shots show what a little detail can add, they are not 'before and after' but looking back a few pages will show several of the trains prior to detailing Super D' 49395 trundles north on 21T hoppers 8F No. 48732 in charge of a southbound containerised freight. 8F No. 48154 northbound on cattle empties 3F 43924 takes a rake of 16T mineral empties north Crab No. 42789 trundles south on a mixed goods. More to follow tomorrow...

67A
Mike, as Dent "nears completion", do you have another project in mind? Is there any room in you den to accommodate such? Jeff Hi Jeff, Nears completion! WHAT!!! I have another 20 years in this yet, whether I have that in me is debatable but I'm not even thinking of anything else - I don't think?
67A
Bitton on the other side! Or Re Build Bermuda Road perhaps. I should have bought that. Hi Andy, No room for either and its a pity Bermuda Road would not fit in your potting shed because I think selling it will be the only option. I probably won't see you at Derby as I'll be going on the Saturday, another 'pity' mate.
67A
Part 2 guys, Bit later than expected as I took my good lady and my two girls (dogs) to Llangollen for a day out... Jubilee 4-6-0 No. 45629 'Straits Settlements' charges northbound with Leeds-Carlisle semi-fast. Side shot of my favourite locomotive! Ex: WD No. 90445 rumbles sedately south with a heavy Soda-ash train comprised entirely of Cov-hop wagons. Now these really benefited from getting rid of the 'plasticy' look. 3F No. 43474 ambles behind the semi-fast with the lines pick-up freight Doyen of the class, Clayton No. D8500 is in charge of a northbound empty fitted mineral train. Metro-Vick Co-Bo D5705 hauls a heavy fitted van train south. Both trains pass on the shelf of Widdale Fell in picturesque Dentdale. Thats that! For now...

RMweb Premium Ray H Posted May 4, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2015 I love the way Mike places the odd wagon or loco around the layout as well. I'd never think of doing that. The photos just emphasise what an excellent model Dent is. I'll be over the moon if I can get Virney Junction up to 10% of Mike's standard.
RMweb Premium Physicsman Posted May 4, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2015 I think we're all in agreement as to the standard that Mike has set. I hope you enjoy running things on it as much as you've enjoyed building it. And it keeps Andy happy!! Jeff
Jock67B
Evening Mike, Been absent due to sickness for a couple of days but really cheered up by all those superb images - as Andy said, the Jubilee really is beautiful, so to the rebuilt Scot in the earlier sequence. Keep them coming mate! I certainly had to agree with Jeff as well, Dent is truly a 'tour de force'! Kind regards, Jock.
