A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Remember those 14XXs I was on about at Auction a few days back?

Went for £150 ad 26% to that and postage of (say) £20.

I did not win them having bid £90 max!

I do hope they aren't both Duffers or someone's going to be really annoyed!

Phil

In which case you may well have dodged a bullet.

They were Hattons ones so I suspect they might be duffers that they wanted rid of?

I've had very very few duff Engines from Auction and mended all but one and that's still in Works!

More expensive news for ANTB. Kernow’s Railmotor is due to arrive between Christmas & New Year.Advice to pre order now as a price hike is imminent.

Not so much a "price hike" (£10 difference) but an end to the pre-order price, that was maintained for many years, and those that have pre-ordered have already kindly paid.  Even I have to say it's worth the wait..

Looking forward to getting my 1930s chocolate/cream jobby.

Authorised and already paid for as last year's Chrisie present from my wife.

Changing the subject a little - a colourful scene a couple of days ago, in Bittaford, not far from Brent. Never seen this on the main road in over 30 years...

Sorry correction here. It’s Caerphilly ( shirt button & Collett tender ) not Caldicot.  The latter is £198. Apologies for the misinformation.

I came across this yesterday afternoon as I was catching up on the tread again – thanks for sharing.

£190-210 was a no-go but at that sort of discount it seemed viable, so I plucked a card out of the deck and bought one. Caerphilly was always my preference as I believe it spent some time at Wolverhampton and the larger tender should make for a better / easier speaker installation.

I shan’t buy a decoder until it arrives though as there seems to be conflicting information about 8 or 21 pin depending on which website one looks at.

An off-topic product for this thread but as an advocate of underframe detail I was taken by the new MDV wagon from Accurascale. It also bodes well for their SR banana wagons that are on the boat and due before the end of the year. Lovely stuff indeed.
