Where is the new platform situated, please?  I don't remember much space there!

   Brian.

At the south end of the station there has (at least since the mid-80s) been a siding into a 2 track shed, the shed being located between the steam train platform and the BR/NR Paignton down platform.  It appears the steam railway has simply extended their platform southwards, and as such creating a bay platform out of the siding.

Before the extension the shed and its access track can been seen at

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Paignton_-_7827_outside_the_shed.JPG

You can also see where it is via Google Maps satellite images.

Thank goodness things have moved on since then, a bit like sawdust for scenics.

True, although I reckon there's a place for SuperQuick brick paper. From the mythical "normal viewing distances" it looks just right.

We still have a lot of catching up to do with the military modellers IMO.

Looking very effective and well worth the effort.

Any plans for the bank, I feel there would be a fence on the top for safety.

Have you built those steps yet down to the sea?

The plan before lockdown was to have a proper look on the DCC supplies show stand at the Redutex sheets with thoughts of redoing the sea walls first. As for a fence on top of the bank, it's hidden from view with all the trees and fauna.:D

More scenery completed, mainly autumn, dead and patchy mixed grass and a chance again to see 5078 on a down stopping train.

No I didn't use Mek on the roof. 3 reasons:

1. It's too harsh on thin layers of plasticard can turn them into mush.

2. It evaporates too quickly meaning you don't have much time between applying the solvent and placing the slates.

3. It grabs and sets too quickly giving little time to adjust slates.

So instead I've used Limonene. This is a thicker, much less aggressive and slower setting solvent. This addresses all the downsides of Mek in this particular application and it smells of lemons...

The best stuff for laminating styrene sheet too.

I love it, as I tend to drown parts in solvent and melt them (with MEK).  I got my last bottle from Hobby Holidays but I've since found out that you can get it on eBay in larger quantities for a better price.

Nope, I've had a good, hard look and I can't see that fence....you sure it's there?
