Class 37 Photos...

It was usually 'six-eighter', sometimes split into 'six-sixer', 'six-eighter' and 'six-niner' by the locals when I started spotting in about 1966-7. If an Eastern one turned up on the Whitemoor- Trostre, that was a SIX-SEVENER, and we'd all be on our push-bikes going to Llandilo Junction to see it- usually arriving too late. By that time, the lowest numbered WR EE Type 3 was D6877, I think, but six-eighter remained the generic name for the centre-headcode ones.

Ah - don't forget D6600 to D6608 Brian - later construction but definitely numerically inferior to D6877!

Can you imagine how boring Carlisle was up till 1992,(Ravescriag shut) when nearly all loaded trains were pairs of 37,on still cold days(and nights) you could here them coming miles away, and to think when they got here if it was nothing new we wouldn't bother a photo(film wasn't cheap then, could kick myself now).

Here's a few photo's of some of the Ravenscraig traffic

There were 6 x 37's at Carlisle for about 15 minutes today.

This is 37261 on the rear of the Carlisle-Newcastle & return DRS charter - 37423 is at the front. And 37601 on the rear of a test train with 37609 leading. (and yes, I did get plenty of pics of the yellow stuff) There were two others parked down in the Wapping sidings (606 and a.n.other)

Earlier at the DRS Kingmoor open day, 37425 was re-acquainted with it's Sir Robert McAlpine plates with a small ceremony, I believe the other side is "Concrete Bob".

BTW, it still carries odd buffers at the other end as per my previous pic

EDIT#2

Just checking 37425's history - it's had the same nameplate in three different locations, four liveries and three background colours - Red background to nameplate. LL blue livery, nameplate high up. Red background with triple grey livery, nameplate mounted high up. Black background in Reggie Rail - mounted mid-height and now DRS standard dark green background mounted low with DRS blue livery, under the radiator grille. Also noting that in the DRS reincarnation, the different nameplates have swapped sides.  This is aside from it's time in LL blue with "Pride of the Valleys" plates................... I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that it may be easier to model one of the 842 black fives.......................................

Cheers,

Mick

37075 At Haworth, first in T.O.P.S. Era Corporate Blue 26/06/12 and one year later in green for a filming job to do with a past crime of considerable notoriety or something.

I had to do a double take on this, are the cab noses different on this loco, one flush and one split box, looking at the back of it in the blue livery, it looks like it is to me but could be wrong, It would make a interesting model if it is.
