RMweb Premium newbryford Posted June 18, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 18, 2016 (edited) Thursday 16/6/16 66185 reverses into the sidings at Peak Forest with the empties from Hope Street. 6614 patiently waits whilst being loaded (presumably destined for Stourton if RTT is correct) 185 has the new style LED lights compared to 114 (Another red shed, 66101 was in the sidings on the south side of Peak Forest) Not much later on, 66622 arrives at Great Rock Jn with the empty HIAs from Kennet to Tunstead. RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted June 19, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 19, 2016 (edited) A rare visit from me. Here's a couple from the recent trip home. 66188 at West Ruislip on a ballast transfer working setting back into the LUL transfer siding. Along with a train of 1992 tube stock. Meanwhile at the other Central Line western terminus 66039 races through a heavy rain storm at Ealing Broadway with empties for the Mendip quarries Edited June 19, 2016 by Gwiwer

Richard Pike
Made a quick visit to Toton this morning looking for 90024 in its new livery, but it was not to be found presumably back inside the paint shop, however there was a large collection of 60's, 66's and 67's. 66085 running onto the depot. 66133 shortly following 66185 topping a short rake of HQA Auto ballasters 66114 tailing the same consist.

YesTor
These 66s seem to be quite common... I wonder if there are many of them running around the network... (?!)
Powerhaul 70 Pey
In what has become typical Summer weather of late along the Calder Valley, 66058 'Derek Clark' heads through Brighouse on 20th June 2016 with the 0826 Arpley Sidings to Milford West Sidings. Any help with the full headcode for this would be great as my usual sources are only showing 6xxx. 66058 6XXX Brighouse 20062016 RMWeb.jpg I see there appears to be what looks like a local modification on the 66 to the right of the lamp iron. Presumably a lamp to make coupling and uncoupling in the dark a bit easier and safer? I've not seen anything similar on other 66s. 66058 6XXX Brighouse 20062016 local mod RMWeb.jpg Later in the day the rarity that is a loaded coal train put in an appearance. 66601 leads 6M09, 1258 Ferrybridge C Power Station to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, between Bradley Wood Junction and Brighouse. This working is showing as a 'short term plan' in the schedule to move stockpiled coal from the closed Ferrybridge PS. Hopefully they'll be a few more of these over the next few weeks and months. 66601 6M09 Brighouse 20062016 RMWeb.jpg Great photos Russ. Unfortunately I was unable to see 66601 on the coal round Warrington as I had the kids with me plus I was pushed for time coz I had pick the Mrs up from work. Maybe next time and maybe a 70 on the front!! Edited June 20, 2016 by Powerhaul 70 Pey

Nearholmer
Right Chaps, this is a question, so might get moderated out, but ....... Does anyone know the current availability and utilisation figures for the Class 66 fleet, taken as a whole? Does TOPS, or whatever its successor is, have a query that could answer this? (Actually, that two questions; sorry!) I ask, because I see an awful lot of Class 66 doing not an awful lot, day after day, (I just counted about ten doing nothing at Willesden), so suspect that utilisation is incredibly low. Unless, being tethered either end of a ballast train in a siding, counts as being utilised, which it certainly didn't used to. Kevin
