Ray M
With light mist and haze still hanging in the early afternoon, 66007 heads towards Skipton on 22nd September 2014 with 6D72, 11.32 Hull Dairycoates to Rylstone. 66007 6D72 Skipton 22092014 RMWeb.jpg A couple of hours later the sun had burnt the mist away when 66025 crosses the bridge over the River Aire with 4D79, 09.53 Redcar to Rylstone. 66025 4D79 Skipton 22092014 RMWeb.jpg Any idea why Coal wagons are going to Rylstone (2nd pic)
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted September 26, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2014 Any idea why Coal wagons are going to Rylstone (2nd pic) The former National Power coal hoppers are being used on stone traffic. I think they're a "spot-hire" set that can be used for any material suitable for hopper transport. I guess they'll have to be careful not to overload when on aggregate duty. Cheers, Mick
Fat Controller
The former National Power coal hoppers are being used on stone traffic. Cheers, Mick Not just ex-NP coal hoppers are being used in stone traffic. DBS has apparently been using at least one HTA rake on stone traffic. Coal traffic is probably slightly down, both for seasonal reasons and because of the substitution of bio-mass for coal, so it makes sense to use the wagons elsewhere. I wonder if someone will paint a large '3/4' on the body, as they used to do with the Minfits used as fitted heads on Buxton stone trains in the late 1970s... Steadfast
I haven't posted to this thread in a while so here's a recent selection. As an aside, I've noticed that the recent GBRf batch, as well as having the cab airvent only on the second man's side of the cab and moving it lower down, there's also quite a pronounced weld seam across the front near the handrail and yellow panel. To me it seems strange to see these variations so late on in the build, knowing that the end is nigh for brand new class 66s. Anyway on to the photos. 66752 heads past Blagrove on the western approaches of Swindon working 6M40 Westbury - Stud Farm 1/9/14 66518 passes Cocklebury Lane, Chippenham working 4M18 Taunton Fairwater - Washwood Heath Cemex 8/9/14 66083 shunts its train of MBAs on the former Highworth Branch in Swindon. The train had been loaded at the EMR scrapyard here and would later work to Port Talbot Steelworks as 6B80 from Swindon Cocklebury 8/9/14 66114 coasts through Stapleton Road with 6A83 Avonmouth Bennett's Siding - West Drayton. The rusty bridges in the background are from when the line up Filton bank was four-tracked in the past 17/9/14 66846 emits plenty of black smoke as it accelerates away from Westerleigh Junction at Ram Hill, working 4V30 Ratcliffe Power Station - Portbury 17/9/14 66152 passes Hullavington at the head of 6V47 Tilbury IRFT - Trostre with 18 bogie ferry vans in tow 13/10/14 jo
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted October 13, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 13, 2014 Recently introduced GBRf 66758 powers through Doncaster in heavy rain on 13th October 2014 with 4L78, 12:00 Selby to Felixstowe intermodal. This failed at Thurston (near Bury St Edmunds) and rather bizarrely was rescued by the RHTT - 57011/57008 with 2 x FEA inside !! - the whole lot went to Felixstowe. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H32288/2014/10/13/advanced
