Gauge war.....

Worse still, it's yet another example of a pre-RCH 1923 livery being applied to an RCH 1923 12 ton steel-framed wagon. Will these people never learn?

If you're tempted by Facebook, here's how it works:

How many Facebook group members does it take to change a light bulb?

- 1 to change the bulb and write to say that the bulb has been changed. ‍

- 14 to say that they also changed a light bulb one day and to discuss the different ways of doing it.

- 7 to warn of the dangers of changing a light bulb.

- 27 to report spelling errors in messages about changing a light bulb.

- 53 to berate the correctors of spelling mistakes.

- 41 to correct those who berate the correctors of spelling mistakes.

- 6 to discuss whether to say "electric bulb" or "lamp".

- 6 to qualify the previous 6 as stuck. ‍

- 2 industry professionals to say the correct term is "incandescent lamp".

- 15 know-it-all claiming to have been in the industry and to say "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

- 109 to point out that this group does not concern light bulbs and that, please, discuss this on the group "light bulbs".

- 111 to defend the subject because everyone uses an electric bulb so the subject has its place here.

- 306 to discuss in order to know the best technique for changing a bulb, where to buy the best light bulbs, which brand is best suited to this technique and which to avoid.

- 27 to send internet addresses where you can discover the different light bulbs.

- 40 to say that they have no confidence in a light bulb and which give links to pseudo-scientific sites which claim to know alternative solutions to produce light.

- 12 to point out that the right to light is not in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

- 1 to send a photo of an electric bulb and another of a type that looks like an electric bulb.

- 14 to indicate that the addresses indicated contain errors and to send the correct ones.

- 1 to say that he has replaced his bulbs with neon tubes and that, suddenly, he rarely changes his light bulbs

- 12 to say that they drop the group because they do not understand the controversy concerning light bulbs.

- 4 to say that we need a FAQ concerning light bulbs.

- 44 to ask what is an "FAQ".

- 13 to say that in any well-kept house, there should be candles somewhere, in case a light bulb burns out.

- 5 to say that they do not use light bulbs, only candles.

- 4 to ask "haven't we already talked about this not long ago?"

- 143 to advise doing a research about light bulbs with Google before launching a discussion on light bulbs.

- 1 to reply to the first message 6 months after the downturn in the business and restart the whole mess!

Come to think of it, and in view of certain subjects, I think that it can be addressed to this forum as well ...

  • What gauge was the light bulb?
  • Have Bachmann, Hornby, etc announced models of the light bulb?
  • Are they accurate models?
  • When will they be delivered?

Where's the section on LED's? Or how to change from QH to LED, best to replace the whole fitting or just the lamp?

The above is showing it's age!

In the pages of RM in the late 70s and early 80s, that was the pre grouping vs Big Four vs modern image debate. There were letters to the editor any time a non-steam layout was featured, dismissing the idiotic idea that any sensible person would want to model modern image and proclaiming that diesels would never be preserved.

Cheers

You should have seen the 3 rail versus 2 rail "discussions" of the 1940's makes the OO/EM/P4 version tame by comparison!

I know what you mean. It makes explaining the offside rule seem a doddle. And when you have (you think) elucidated the whole thing perfectly she just says "That's nice, Dear" and changes the subject to table mats.
