Back from a well earned week in Cornwall, managed to red line two more ferries, the Bodmin and Wenford railway the St Austell brewery and Camel Valley Vineyard!

Shame the drive back took 8 3/4 hrs vice 5 1/2 hrs!

Yorkshire NGS meeting yesterday, got some of the T-Trak chemical works fitted. Today a very rainy first ever trip to the Leeds Model Railway show. A venue and a half! Very enjoyable show bumped into lots of Yorkshire NGS members and several customers from MBMS.

Wished that I'd known you were coming over to the Leeds show Andy as I would have introduced myself. As a Leeds MRS member I was there both Saturday and Sunday afternoons and was on door duty between 2pm and 3pm. One day I will make over to York for one of NGS meetings, promise.

Glad that you enjoyed the show.

Regards,

Ian.

Well a couple of wasted hours today, tried fitting some metal locating dowels to assist lining up the baseboards. I think these should really be done before any track is laid. After fitting them with the boards heavily clamped together and lined up nicely they slotted together OK but everything was slightly out of alignment….far to much to adjust.

Two boards are out in the garage temporarily as a result.

Better work today, some buildings finally glued down where they can. About another 20 people added to the layout. Signs added to the substation and some signage made and added to the station footbridge and waiting room. The two layout boards in the garage are now back in doors.

Pictures to follow.

Arial view of the Kensington High St board, the little speaker is one of the Gaugemaster Urban soundscape units.

Suspended sign on the footbridge stairs…bit of a pain to glue in place.

Having a bit of a tidy up and getting windscreens varnished, these are some of my 3D printed cars mostly from RedAndy. I’ll be digging the Carflats out to weather and permanently fit some of them to the wagons.

Looking good, but surely not enough beige!

Agreed, funny how it was shades of beige or a colour that would burn your retinas back in the 1970s.

Today I’ve made a start on weathering the Carflats. So far two have had the decks weathered with various shades of wood colour acrylic and the underframes and bogies weathered too. I’ve also fitted Hunt magnetic couplings, the standard length ones are fine..

Standard issues at the back.

Couldn’t resist putting a load of cars on. These will get glued down when I get some more superglue.

25% beige quota of cars Stephen!

I do like my Lifecolor paints, front row did the decks, rear the rest of the wagon.

Bit of a dull day today weather wise. I was going to tidy up the railway room but that can wait for another day. Instead I got the tiled roof on the backstreet garage and added the chimney pots to that block of buildings and the Hand and Flowers block.

Did you have any problems fitting the Hunt Couplings to the Farish pockets? The batch I have won't fit as they come out of the packet.

They fit the NGS Carflats fine, the GF Mk1s are a bit tight, took a file to it. I also fitted a Dapol knuckle to a Mk1 FK….that was very tight and the short couplers are too short. I had to file a fair bit off for them to fit correctly.

Some Farish Mk1s had a pocket where the pips on the side of the coupler were slightly too small, as were the corresponding holes on the pocket. Later batches had the size corrected, so it can hit and miss on a mixed rake.

Steve,

Oh good it's not just me then, I've had issues trying to fit Hunt Couplings into Farish Sprung boxes.

Cheers

Neal.

A further batch of Carflats got weathered today. The Motorail flats got their cars glued down as have the Transit chassis cabs. The yellow Railease flat will either have some more Transits or Tractors added as a load.

I will make up another train of five Carflats. Most of the scratchbuilt examples will fill sidings.

Some goodies arrived in the post yesterday…..from Fox Transfers. The Motorail ones will adorn the unbranded NGS ones I have. The Royal Mail ones, only need the very small ones for the Leyland EA van and the shop facias will give up the WHSmiths ones for the Commer Walk-thru.

Today the “Charles House” baseboard got put back on some legs. I’ve been fitting the rest of the double yellow lines, after all it is London and there’s nowhere to park. I’ve now run out of corners so I’ll have to order some more or use the yellow paint pen.

The railway room is very untidy, I’m not a tidy worker so Friday I’ll be starting a tidy up…….maybe.

Popped out today to photograph the RHTT passing through Haxby. 37422 and 37401 doing the honours.

Yorkshire NGS meeting tomorrow, I’m going to take the “Charles House” baseboard to continue adding people and start one of the other buildings on it. I also realised I need to add a signal on this board which gives the route into the platform or through road.

It can be seen on THIS IMAGE from Rail Online. I think I’ll have enough left over bits to make this, brass tube post so that it can be removed like the other signals for cleaning the track etc.

I am quite a tidy person and I start off modeling in tidy way and then I get so immersed in it all I create a right old mess. Great modeling by the way. I am always very  impressed with detailed N scale. I struggle with my eyesight with OO. All the best Steve
