AberdeenBill
Nice shots, Russ, was there a good crowd? I wonder if we spotted 47813 in its former guise as D1720 at New Milton over 40 years ago Bill
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted July 19, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 19, 2015 (edited) Yes, a good crowd Bill. An enjoyable day and worth making the effort to go. I have D1720 underlined in my 1973 combine. My Locoshed Book lists it as allocated to 86A, Cardiff Canton, at the time. Sadly I no longer have my notes that far back, but if it turned up through New Milton it would probably have been on one of the Summer only inter-regionals to/from Bournemouth. I seem to recall that they tended to produce 47s from the more 'exotic' depots than the more common Crewe Diesel or Bescot that appeared on the daily Liverpool or Newcastle services. RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted July 24, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 24, 2015 Come to me my beauties ! (booked at 15:18) Finally got a round tuit. Signalling problems at Thetford meant the ECS was held on Ely chord for an hour and so was late passing me, and of course the reasonable light had gone making the drab WCR livery even harder to record on a decent shot and it was really travelling when it passed me. Eccles Road 47851 and 47786, Roy Castle OBE, on 5Z54, 07:10, Carnforth Steamtown - Norwich Stn C.S.D. (15:40) - ECS

eastwestdivide
On what should have been a steam special with 61306 Mayflower, the return run of the Cathedrals Express York-London last Sunday, in the Joan Croft area just N of Doncaster... Coming south from Knottingley area via the Askern line and passing the new Haywood Junction: And at Thorpe Crossing: (No, I didn't dart across the level crossing while it was moving - it came to a halt at the signal and I crossed over while it was still waiting, well before the road lights started flashing) And looking the other way, about to join the ECML at Shaftholme Junction: 47760 and 47746 apparently. It's a bit of a stealth livery on those 47s, particularly in overcast lighting conditions.
