RMweb Premium Barry O Posted December 16, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 16, 2018 The videos really help with speed. Max speed downhill with a Jubilee and 8 should be about 65mph. Baz

Baz That would be about 15 inches - say one-and-a-half coach lengths - per second.

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted December 17, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) One of the things you notice from videos of layouts is the speed trains are driven at. Do the exhibition attendees think trains have to run at a scale 100mph? And slowing to a halt/accelerating from a halt is also a bit hit and miss. DCC can help with this but it isn't always used to advantage in this area. Baz Edited December 28, 2018 by Barry O

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted December 18, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) We are heading towards a full kit built/heavily modified fleet of steam locomotives for the layout. New kit built coaches are also appearing as these give us more variety of stock. But, thank goodness for the RTR ICI hoppers. A rake of 16 fulls and 16 empties makes the layout more realistic. Davey
and a bit of unrebuilt Scot Action! Sorry to be pedantic, but that's not an un-rebuilt Royal Scot. It is in fact a Patriot Class, sometimes referred to as a Baby Scot. Davey
