Another view from last night at the club rooms

We have a southbound 8F with ICI Hopper empties on the left and an empty mineral coming down the 1 in 90 grade on the right behind another 8F

Now that the collection of ICI Hoppers is growing, its time to turn to how we run full trains.

Filling the entire hopper with a limestone substitute would result in a very heavy wagon. Next best thing to build a platform in the hopper and put a covering of limestone substitute.

So turning to the 3D printer and a couple of prototypes we end up with

A closer look at the 3D print

I will add a couple more pictures when I have applied the limestone simulate

Another 15 to go

Hi Andy, will your 3d printed bases be available to purchase at all? My hoppers look a bit bare without any loads in at present.

Cheers Paul

A couple of pictures from tonight...we had a 12 wagon set and a 16 wagon set.

First Innocentman's 8F and 16 wagons

just about to be passed by a CoBo

attachicon.gif20181010_193442_resized.jpg

and a view of the CoBo and 12 hoppers

Some of the very heavily weathered Hattons wagons are in the 16 rake. General opinion...far too brown!

when I can transfer it I have a very short video..just working out how it works!

Just got back from Hazel Grove exhibition.

Great exhibition, very friendly as always. Not many people there for a Sunday! I hope they made a bit of money.

As usual, really good layouts, one of which was a great Buxton line area layout running ICI hoppers.

This finally brings me to my point!!

I have now seen some heavily weathered hoppers.

I agree with the general opinion, too brown!!

Still damn good value though!!

                                        Chris.

Jury still out. I saw them every single day as a kid and my memory (apart from the odd clean one) was pretty much overall dark grimy brown....? Mine will do.

Ah you should have said hello I was operating on HV most of the day trying to keep the hoppers running. I saw Fordbank Andy on Saturday and was behind MartinWales with Kinmundy for weekend. For a Sunday the attendance was about usual for us maybe a bit more than last year. Will find out figures at our review meeting soon.

Cheers Paul

Yep just like grey there are 50 shades of brown maybe a lot more. I'm very happy with mine and will continue to add or remove detail as needed.

So,

To see Chapel en le Frith "in the flesh" complete with one loaded and one empty hopper train (plus lots of others including the tunnel repair train) you can see it at the following exhibitions next year:

January Normanton & Pontefract

February New Mills @ Chapel en le frith

September Steam Swindon (return visit)

October Leeds (tbc)

November Newcastle.

Hopefully we can also do club room visits on certain Saturdays over this winter. PM me if you would like to come and see it.

Meanwhile back in the clubrooms...

programme of work includes some track repairs, adding bits and bobs scenic wise, fitting signal motors and controls, wiring up the yard lamps.

Additional locos and stock being tested..should be good to go by Normanton.

In reality it is a testing session for stock for our next couple of shows.

Missing the blue Pullman set and Mike's stock. And two trains on the scenic side!

With the extra dead end sidings we were trying out the modus operandi. Hence outer loops will be left empty. That worked well

Baz

PS lots of stock available when required...
