Popular Post Killybegs
I hadn't realised how much time had gone by since I last posted anything on 2822. It went into the paint shop a while back and today it received an initial light weathering with the air brush. Still work to do, so, hopefully, more pics once it is finished. 30

Popular Post Killybegs
I haven't been entirely idle in the interim as I did build covers for the fiddle yard. This has allowed me to put out my stock without having to worry about it getting dusty. 34 1

Interesting to see an approach at something that is on my to do list over the winter, A couple of questions: Does this have a block on the side as well as from above and what material have you used for the top pannels? thanks R
Killybegs
The top panels are 5mm foam board. They are supported front and back on battens except across the window where they are supported on pads. The sides are supported by strips of 5mm ply fixed to the underside of the cross members. 4 1

Have been racking brains as to what to do with the board packing pieces when we take Abbotswood out to exhibitions…. Fiddle yard covers will do very nicely! Just for info I purchased several A1 sheets from my local Hobbycraft store recently at a cost of 4 for £10. I am sure they can be purchased for less elsewhere but it was the convenience that suited me on this occasion plus I knew that they wouldn't be damaged in the post !

Thanks for that, I think a trip to Hobby Craft is in order at the weekend, will just need to work out how I will adjust the design of the sub structure to allow for the scenic section at the front of my fiddleyard...

Popular Post Killybegs
Crikey, it's a long time I posted anything. My latest project is finished and ready to be dismantled for a visit to the paint shop. The loco and tender bodies are Bachmann, the loco chassis is Martin Finney and the inner tender chassis is Brassmasters. I bought the loco some time ago to run on an 00 layout that I was building for a friend and also because, at the time, Brassmasters were considering doing an Easi-chas for the Hall. That never happened. I had a Finney kit in my stores but it didn't cover the later Halls with the fire iron tunnel, so I decided to combine the two. The body isn't perfect, there's a slight twist on the footplate and because of this the cab tilts forward a bit (it look worse in the photo than it is). It has a CSB suspension (rather than compensated as designed in the kit) and the bogie is sprung with a pair of Alan Gibson sprung pickups. I had to hack the plastic coal out of the tender and make a new support structure for real coal. 32
