I'll go through all the locos first and pictures as to how they are now.

Well here is part of the list of work to be done to the stock...............

Bachmann Class 08, 08648 in RF Grey livery.
This loco is wired with an Express Models lighting kit and through A DCC Concepts S4SAP 4-Function Decoder.

The loco is awaiting it's steps, handrails and a good weathering. It also needs a BR Blue playmate.......

post-14906-0-39817700-1413826486_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 20, 20090 in RF Redstripe Livery
This loco is wired with an Express Models lighting kit with switchable tail lights and directional markers. Again by Express Models, all through a DCC Concepts S4SAP 4-function Decoder

This loco, apart from a bit of tidying up and some pipework on the bufferbeams is just about done. It desperately needs a partner in the form of a BR blue example when I can find one.

post-14906-0-37195000-1413826801_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 25, 25231 in BR blue livery. "FOR SALE in classifieds"
This loco has been converted by myself to have the tail lights independently controlled and the marker lights directional. It is fitted with an ESU Lokpilot V4.0 decoder, hardwired in to a home made circuit board.

post-14906-0-82110300-1413826964_thumb.jpg

Well that's all the smaller locos. The two 25's will be replaced by a 20 and a 25/3 (gallery window version) so I can make a "Tamworth Castle" with the wrap round yellow ends.

Type 3's next...........

Jinty ;-)

post-14906-0-41821700-1413832565_thumb.jpg

In addition to the above, I'm waiting for the Bachmann split box 37 in Dutch, and I'll be converting a 37 into a 'Slug' as well, 37904 in particular. I'll also be wanting a plain BR blue 31 at some point as well.

Next up, type 4's and 5's.........

Jinty ;-)

Hi jintyman sorry to here you've had a few problems and glad you know you've a plan

Really like your loco's I've a soft spot for those flush front 37's in redstripe and a bit out of my era but wouldn't mind a couple for Barnsley Central one day

Love the weathering on 25052,37251and 37431

Nice work and look forward to your new plans and progress

Brian

Thanks Guys, it is sort of helping me as well, by organising myself with it!!!! Plus if I put it down here, I can't get sidetracked without someone noticing.

Type 4's.....

Bachmann Class 47, 47190 in TTG "Pectinedae" in Petroleum Sector livery.
This loco needs a touch more weathering, and a tail light conversion, once I work out how to do it!!!
The loco is already fitted with an ESU Lokpilot V4.0 decoder.

post-14906-0-15588700-1413907686_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 47, 47226 in BR Blue.
This is a rework of a 'D' numbered loco I obtained. Unfortunatly it has the early style 3-panel radiator grilles, so I think I need to find the later Sereck type body for it. I think I'll still number it up as 226 as it was a CF loco and would fit in quite nicely.

post-14906-0-90326200-1413907895_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 47, 47331 in Departmental 'Dutch' livery.
The loco was origionally 47835 in IC livery, but repainted by myself to 331.
Currently fitted with an ESU Loksound v4.0 decoder with SWD sounds.
The loco needs weathering.

post-14906-0-94007400-1413908033_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 47, 47424 in L/Logo Blue livery
This loco started out as 301 in Redstripe livery, but re-liveried by myself
This loco needs detailing, pipework and a bit more weathering.
It is fitted with an ESU Loksound V4.0 decoder with 'Biffo' 47/4 sounds

post-14906-0-73865900-1413908256_thumb.jpg

Heljan Class 47/4, 47508 "S S Great Britain" in BR Blue.
This loco has been fitted with a DCC Concepts S4SAP decoder and an Express Models lighting kit with switchable tail lights.
The loco is weathered and has ploughs fitted although I know she didn't ever carry them!!!!!
The loco is basically finished.

post-14906-0-38117100-1413908487_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 47, 47710 "Sir Walter Scott" in Scotrail Livery
This loco needs detailing and weathering. The Scotrail branding will be removed and it will be finished in a very work worn state. I intend to fit this one with 'Biffo' sound and give it switchable tail lamps as all the others.

post-14906-0-40566800-1413908678_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 47, 47834 "Fire Fly" in IC Swallow livery.
This loco has only been weathered, it needs switchable tail lights and an ESU Lokpilot V4.0 Decoder.
The loco is out on loan with a friend, but should be back before Xmas!!!

post-14906-0-78185900-1413908891_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 47, 47835 "Windsor Castle" in IC Livery.
This loco needs detailing, weathering and an ESU Lokpilot fitted.
The loco has an early type chassis, so I intend to fit it with high intensity lights, and make the tail lamps switchable.

post-14906-0-97740200-1413909096_thumb.jpg

I would like another few Duffs, but in plain blue, or maybe Freight Grey, but no more namers!!!! Although Meddyn Emrys keeps appearing!!!!!!!! :O :o
As for other type 4 locos, I'd like a 40 and a 46, but they are far down the list!!!

Next is Type 5's and DMU's  ;) :imsohappy:

Jinty ;-)

Thanks, and do you know what, I've forgotten one of my type 2's, 26037!!!!! :O

I don't know why, I did it at the very beginning of the thread (maybe I don't like the loco or something???) But anyway.........

Heljan Class 26, 26037 in RF Redstripe livery.
I have milled out the corners of the chassis and fitted my own LED light conversion. Coupled to a DCC Concepts S4SAP 4-Function decoder
Weathered but needs touching up a bit now as it's gained a few scratches.

post-14906-0-75707000-1413918408_thumb.jpg

As said before, type 5's and DMU's next.......
Oh and I think I've just closed on another Blue Duff!!!!!!! :imsohappy: ;)

  • RMweb Gold

Some nice 47's there Jinty, I'm after a couple of early blue ones myself. Looking forward to the next instalment although it is making me increasingly jealous!

You defo need a 40 though Jinty and my peak is one of my favourites so I highly recommend them both.

Cheers, Paul

Well I've got at least one spare early blue body, although it's dominos and TOPS numbered!!!!!

Yes I love 40's, surprised I haven't already got one (with sound!!!)

Once I get my main rostered locos sorted, then I can indulge in a bit of Biffo 40!!!!!!! :imsohappy:

There well worth it an great sound, I need a couple more green ones though! Very tempting with the early blue one Jinty pretty easy to replace dominos, let me know if you decide to part with it.

Ive got far to many 37s to sit down and list them with pictures :help:

And I've probably got too much time on my hands as well...........

Type 5's & DMU's

Hornby Class 56, 56037 "Richard Trevithick" in TTG Sector livery

Fitted with an ESU V4.0. This loco will need toning down with some weathering, but not before I've looked into having the tail lights switchable. I do like the 56's and I think at least another 2 are on the cards.

post-14906-0-81603600-1414088197_thumb.jpg

Hornby Class 60, 60066 "John Logie Baird" in Transrail/Coal Sector livery

Again this loco will be toned down a touch, after moving it back in time to a Petroleum sector one (Transrail is a bit modern for my layout!!). Again I will also look at making the tail lights switchable.

post-14906-0-25698400-1414088212_thumb.jpg

As far as type 5's go, as mentioned earlier, I will be looking for 2 more 56's, one in RF Redstripe and one in L/Logo blue. I'd also consider one more class 60 in a Petroleum livery. As for 58's, I have the desire for one in particular, which should be soon, so I'll wait on that one.

DMU's...

Bachmann Class 108, 50948 & 56231 in GM White/Blue stripe livery.

This is the standard Bachmann model, with Bachmann decoders. I have weathered this one, more as a trial for the rest of the DMU's, but I intend to strip out the wiring and make the interior lights switchable and all be operated from one ESU v4.0 decoder.

post-14906-0-23875900-1414088768_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 108, 50607 & 56199 in BR Blue livery

Again this is the standard Bachmann offering, but will undergo the same as the above.

post-14906-0-58717300-1414088781_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 150, 150148 in RR Livery

This is the standard Bachmann model, which I intend to improve the electrics on, but it's way down the list.

post-14906-0-72655700-1414088794_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 158, 158791 in RR Livery

Both the 158's were purchased off Tenmerire of this parish, excellent service too!!!

Both the class 158's will undergo the Express Models lighting kit conversion, and will be powered by an ESU Lokpilot v4.0 Decoder. A subtle amount of weathering will be applied.

I'm thinking of using both the 158's as a permanent 4-car set, the jury is out just for the moment, but I'll ponder on it for a while longer.

post-14906-0-37659600-1414088805_thumb.jpg

Bachmann Class 158, 158757 in RR Livery

See above

post-14906-0-68844600-1414088821_thumb.jpg

I also have a 2-car 105 unit on the way soon, I'd like a 3-car 108 in blue/grey livery at some point, and a 150/1 as well in time.

My roster of locos and DMU's may seem a lot, but when you sit down and try and put together a decent sequence of movements, just to one main station and yard, never mind the branches, the loco requirements add up somewhat!!!!!!! And then I'll have Wrexbury Marsh too!!!!!! :O :o

  • 2 weeks later...

The 150s are among my favourites I have one of each type. I do like DMUs in general, easier on the wallet :)

I know what you mean, although they too are creeping up the cost ladder now.

The new re-tooled 150's from Bachmann are set at £150 - £160, and although I like the 101's, I'm a bit reluctant to pay £150 for a 2 car unit. I think there may be a glut of 150's around at good money once the new ones are released. Be a good time to pick up a couple of bargains I think

Work carries on with trying to solve the baseboard issues, but after a joiner friend took a look, the last 12' of boards are to be taken up and replaced with 9mm ply!!!!

I've also ordered some roller gauges, bullhead rail (for the sidings) and some copper clad sleepering. That should be here this week, so having a go at making points should be interesting.

Really????

If I remember correctly, the 153 is the converted single car unit (the one with the cramped driving end!!), which is a bit late for my timescale. As for 150's, it would have to be a 150/1 I think it is, the one with the corridor connector ends. :imsohappy:

Here we are after quite a bit of time not doing anything. Both work commitments, a family problem and social commitments have left me no time at all for Wrexbury. I can't say that finding the baseboard problem hasn't ticked me off and dulled my enthusiasm a bit, it has, but I'm kicking myself up the backside, sidestepping the issue a bit, and building the boards for Wrexbury Marsh. 16' x 2'6" in 4 boards of 4' x 2'6". I intend to construct the countryside end boards in a semi open nature, just to give a little drop from a perfectly flat scenario.

I'll get some images up soon of the boards, the wood's all cut, just got to fix it all together now!!!!! :mail:

Meanwhile, this little lot arrived in the post today...........................................

post-14906-0-11748700-1415199554_thumb.jpg

4mm copper clad sleepering, code 75 BH rail and 2 x OO roller gauges ( salt, pepper and vinegar to taste!!!!!). Oh and a nice new iron too!!! :O
I'm using bullhead track in the yard and I'll be printing off a template of one of the end pieces which consists of a small headshunt and a point.

I will endeavour to construct this from the Templot plan, and see how I go!!!!

This sort of thing as well as the smaller nature of the boards should see good progression over the winter months as I can have 2 boards together on the kitchen table (wife permitting :nono:). I'm hoping to have all the trackwork built and laid before April next year, so I can then replace Wrexbury's warped boards.

Question, where is the best place for BH & FB rail fishplates, I like the look of the etched ones from C&L and soldering the rail sections together( but alternately to allow for any expansion), and I'll be using flat bottomed rail for the main lines, can you get concrete flexi track from C&L in FB?

I'll keep you all updated as to how I get on with the track!!! Hopefully it won't go through the window!!!! :O

Jinty ;-)

I've had a little go with the straight piece of track..............

post-14906-0-99943300-1415205658_thumb.jpg

Not the neatest or the best, but the wagon does run on it, and evenly too  :imsohappy: :imsohappy:

I need an angled tip on the iron as the screwdriver tip is too blunt, so once that has been changed, I'll have a go at the point this evening.

Jinty ;-)
