Peak Photos and Memories

I didn't take these myself but they are scanned from slides that I bought in 1987. None of the locomotives can be identified and no locations are given. The dates are from when the slides were processed.

Class 46? Cudworth station.

Shipton by Beningbrough on the ECML north of York.

Class 46? I am quite confident that this is on an up train, past Normanton (West Yorks.) station.

I used to know where this is, with the lineside sign, but I have forgotten.

Class 46? I'm sure this is York Dringhouses yard.

The last photo is York Yard North looking north at a southbound train, (Dringhouses is/was south of York).

Edit - I should also add thanks for posting these. I travelled up to York a few times, and have happy memories of time spent at York Yard North,

cheers

That one looks like it could be Cudworth?

Possibly. They did knock the edges off other platforms on the old Midland line, but isn't the taller of the two signals above the first coach for the main line and the lower one for the diverging line at a junction ? If that's so the main line would be straight on at Normanton and the diverging line would go to the right at Altofts Junction. If it was Cudworth the diverging line would go to the left at Cudworth South Junction - I think.

Almost certainly Cudworth looking towards South Junction.

There’s similar pictures in ‘Rails Through Barnsley’ (Alan Whitehouse) and ‘Railway Memories No8.’

45015 at Swindon circa 1979

This scene looks odd now without the trees lining the background, even though I was familiar with it 1972-77.

What a curious future this Peak was going to have, discarded in a hedge. Is it still there, or has its charmed existence finally come to an end.....anyone know?

It appears to have now been scrapped. I remember seeing it in 2007 and it was largely intact if a bit green.

Pic here from 2014, somewhat sad looking;

Someone had the flamecut numbers from it for £500, and it has donated parts to 5 other locos according to;

RIP - D14 (45015) in service for 26 years, but somehow survived for 36 more years......

Still there on the 18th Feb this year.....becoming one with the shrubbery. It's just an empty shell.

Is that a printed dominoes sticker inside the glass just looking odd in the light, or a recessed panel with flush marker lights like the 47s had at the no. 1 end?

And while I'm on, is that an outside frame siphon of some sort behind it?

I think the diffuser discs are missing, making the dominoes look odd, meaning you can see the lamps behind.

The Syphon is an internal frame but still has a full compliment of lower vents and shutters rather than being one of the plated over variety examples.
