Unfortunately I took all that was on the shelves that fitted what I wanted. I didn't want to be greedy.

I managed to get to Wycrail today after having to do some work. A great show that I will be attending again.

My wallet was a lot lighter on leaving than when I arrived.

I've just spent the evening researching bridge construction before starting to attempt the damaged bridge tomorrow. I'll post photos as it progresses

Took my wife out for a birthday meal today with my eldest son and his family.  I have suggested going there as her birthday treat and then onto her dad's but she has not been impressed.  Falcon models was there, who do the figures.  Did you see them?

Morning Chris

I had a good look at the Falcon figures and was impressed with them. I do have a couple of their loco crews that I need to paint at some stage. There are quite a few that will be obtained nearer the time when I require them.

Hi Lance Comical 911

You can't go wrong with this book. A must for all railway modellers.

Grandad Bob kept on encouraging me to make a purchase from Falcon, I managed to resist I've enough crews from 2 decommissioned Bachy Moguls to put into new kit builds.

To say that I'm seriously annoyed with myself is an understatement.

I started marking out 1mm styrene for the main external structure of the bridge to find that I'm one sheet short. :O  :help:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :ireful:  :wild:

It looks like any free evenings this week will now be building kits until I can obtain some more next weekend

I've marked out as much as I can until more plasticard appears. Although it doesn't looks that big it measures over 24 inches. Now I have to hope that it works as I envisage for the layout or it will end up being a big photo scene

Nothing has been achieved so far this week. 3 days working away followed by this evening attending a model railway club (which I will be joining) for the first time has slowed things down a bit.

Hopefully tomorrow evening and over the weekend I'll be able to get something done. I do have to do some urgent shopping for some more plasticard as no one had any at Tolworth last weekend.

I'll try posting this again !!!!!!  :threaten:

A book for you to read if you don't already own a copy "Locomotives At War by P.M. Kalla-Bishop, pub' Bradford Barton give you an insight into a Sapper enlisting in 1940 quiet a bit about Longmoor MR included.

Also reading a South Devon branchlines book there's a comment the Hospital Trains were pulled by LNER B12's light axle loco's were required to be versatile.

Today was meant to be spent modelling, however a surprise visit from a friend turned those plans on their head.

We did manage to sort out a few things though;

The amount of stock and locos that are either to be bought (kits or RTR) or awaiting building which scared the hell out of me.

We also started to get our heads around JMRI.

The aim of tomorrow is to get the last of the track laid on Son of HA and powered.

Duncan,

I will need to have 8 locos, none of which are built yet, ad some need techniques I have not mastered, 21 coaches, of which I have one and have spent ? how long building two more, plus how many goods wagons?  Also 8 through coaches from other companies, which will need to be doubled up as, well they need to get where they are going before they can come back.  Some of these extra 8 may be in the 21.  What am I saying?  The fun is in the journey.  I really would like to run a prototypical train.  At present I can run the first three trains of the day with engines and coaches of the wrong period company, but I will get there, eventually.

Enjoy the journey.  The killer might be the R-T-R stuff that might have a limited shelf life, that is time it is sitting on the shelf waiting to be bought, but the rest can be as and when the funds become available.

So how is the research on this bridge coming on?

Hi Chris

I'm thoroughly enjoying the journey. Learning about pro-typical practices, specialist trains, bridge construction etc.

The rolling stock and locos are an interesting bit of research which also means visits to places that I should have gone to years ago but for some reason haven't.

I'm waiting for an order of larger sheets of plasticard to arrive this week so that construction of the bridge can begin in earnest. It should be long enough to hold a 2 BIL

A day of 2 halves with Son of HA.

All the track is in place and there are no problems with any stock on any section.

The down side. I've 2 point motors that for some reason I can't get to line up at the moment, so I left that for later. On powering up the track the controller shut down straight away. Realisation dawned that I hadn't gapped the underside of the copperclad at the board joints. Both of these problems will have to be dealt with another time.

Enough for today time to put my feet up.
