Lord Flashheart
A set of pics showing 08597,08605 and 47334 on 6/10/97, having arrived at Hedon Road 47334 promptly shut down and wouldn't restart, to the rescue came 08597 which towed the whole train to its required loading area. However thanks to the efforts of the driver and a fitter from Immingham the 47 was repaired and departed later that day. Rob

drmditch
USA tank, at Springhead. The late Willie Yeadon. J USA TANK SPRINGHEAD.jpg Is it possible to enquire about this photograph. Were some of these locomotives unloaded at Hull? I haven't seen any references to any of them being used on the LNER. I wonder what work had to be done so that they could be moved over British railways.
micknich2003
These engines never worked from Springhead, they were either unloaded at Hull or prepered at Springhead for work in France etc, similarly the S160 2-8-0's. No doubt, it will all be documented somewhere. I have looked on Tinternet for more information, but I can find nothing.

micknich2003
Further to the above picture. I fancy sometime modelling a Fireless engine, I seem to think years ago drawings were published in the model press. Can any one supply details?

micknich2003
Steve, thanks for your help. I think there have been drawings in "Railway Modeller" at sometime, and if so, I will almost certainly have them here. It's more a case of knowing which one to look for. Mick. RMweb Gold russ p Posted October 15, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2016 Is the cab supposed to be like that Mick?
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 15, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2016 I thought that it must be the treatment of the cab side. We need Mick to explain just what it is! Regards, Rob.
R Marshall
Mick, The cab panel looks very light - RCTS says the livery was "invisible green" panelled in broad blue with narrow vermillion borders, so the cab and tender sides should look the same, I guess (which they don't). Also, there are no dog clips on the lower edge of the smokebox door - these were removed by Darlington works from 1924, RCTS says. micknich2003
It's a "Doctored" photograph, the cab side sheet has been "Filled In" with a lighter colour, and also, the number changed from 117 to 121. "Dogs" are not shown on the original drawing, they must have been a later addition. Attached, a colour postcard of the original print of No117
