  1. I do like the look of these, and bullhead would be more in keeping with the modelling period for me, but I'm dithering, from what I've seen the bullhead track is rather delicate, and I've got loads of Peco code 100 already to be laid, and know where I am with it, I just can't decide! I know, I'll dither some more...
  2. nothing on the driving standards thread since April 11th? I can't believe it! here's a thing, is it me just getting older (and a tad more cautious?) or are there more folk now crossing the white line to the wrong side of the road? so many times recently I have had to face on-coming vehicles--usually cars going way too fast--on 'my' side of the road, especially cutting corners. sometimes it's just a wobble over the line, and the hopeless 'offender' soon corrects their course, but so often it seems more belligerent, aggressive driving, forcing me to take avoiding action by veering towards the gutter as they zoom past crossing the centre line. the corner cutting, anecdotally, always seems to be by some overblown SUV, no doubt because of these vehicles' rubbish handling and cornering -- I once test drove a Kadjar and going round a roundabout I felt like the thing was going to topple over... there, I feel better now 🙄 cheers, Keith
  3. anyone after one of those nice Hornby B12s in LNER green? a very tempting £105 from Kernow: https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/56185/R3544-WSL-Hornby-Holden-B12-Steam-Locomotive-8527-LNER-Green R3544 WSL Hornby Holden B12 Steam Locomotive 8527 LNER Green. cheers, Keith
  4. A decent bit of weather in norn iron plus a small window of opportunity to overnight in the tent at Castlewellan, absolutely amazing views of the Mourne Mountains, though some of the hills had me walking! cheers, Keith
  5. some nice stuff there, would go well with, say, some er generic four and six wheel coaches...?
  6. Nice easy loop around the southern tip of the Ards Peninsula this afternoon, with my son, good to get him out on the roads, building up his confidence and road-sense--generally quiet in this rural and very lovely part of NI, especially compared to the area we live: cheers, Keith
  7. probably belongs here--https://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/9-smaller-suppliers/? cheers, Keith
  8. thiis is great! you've just solved a similar quandry for me in coming up with a plan that will work for my layout (21' x 8') :-) though I shall flip the design to fit the space I have and the boards (which are in all place and have been awaiting 'progress' for 2 years!). cheers, Keith
  9. Rails has reduced the new Bachmann BR blue class 20 to £143.95: https://railsofsheffield.com/products/Bachmann-35-355-class-200-disc-headcode-20057-br-blue-diesel-locomotive
  10. Some gorgeous sunny weather for us in Co. Down this weekend, cycling around Castle Ward estate, and an overnight in a camping pod cheers, Keith
  11. some good news for bikes on trains in Scotland: https://www.scotrail.co.uk/about-scotrail/news/bike-bonanza-scotrail-customers "ScotRail customers who love exploring Scotland by bike are seeing a huge increase in the number of cycle spaces on trains." cheers, Keith
  12. Thanks @Nearholmer oddly enough I feel pretty ok and seem to have got through it (now at day 7) without feeling too rough--but then again I have yet to go out on the bike, so we'll see what that brings when the time comes! I'd like some better weather too... all the best, Keith
  13. just before I got struck down by Covid last week I had a pleasant amble around the Sperrin Mountains... I was a bit disappointed with the time taken for 22 miles but then it was a bit up and down! I had already ordered these two amazing books before testing positive and they have been a joy to read while being laid up: cheers, Keith
  14. TMC now have the blue grey portholes for £40 a piece 🙂 all 3, eg https://www.themodelcentre.com/39-452 all the best, Keith
  15. good to see things up and running again and big hand to @AY Mod for all the effort. my gold status seems to be in the ether somewhere but hopefully something easily sorted 🙂 cheers, Keith
  16. I'm always pretty happy with an **average** speed on my Ridgeback hybrid of around 12mph, usually it's aound 10mph when off-road and nearer to 12-14mph on-road, depending on conditions and especially hills and wind direction!
  17. just armchair cycling for me this weekend great book by the way, good maps and photographs of the routes, and a Harvey map I've bought for planning a Galloway Forest trip later this year. cheers, Keith
  18. A sunny weekend in norn iron, so a short spin around local trails and tracks beckoned: cheers, Keith
  19. same here, I have a Saris Bones for 3 bikes, but on my Mazda 3 only loaded it with 2 bikes max and that seemed 2 too many to me, seeing the thing bouncing about in my rear view mirror never inspired confidence in the thing. I now have roof bars and a Thule roof carrier for one bike on a Passat estate, it's much sturdier and seems sound enough, keeping to a sensible speed of course, and avoiding height barriers! best of all is having an estate, which easily accommodates my Ridgeback bike when I put the rear seats down, and that's my preferred mode of transporting the bike whenever possible, fine when it is just me in the car, less convenient when I have the whole family! cheers, Keith
  20. 2013-2015 looking at this--https://www.modelraildatabase.com/locomotives/details/1321/ all the best, Keith
  21. not the loop but the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum, always worth dropping in occasionally to see what's passing by, such as this, what a lovely sunrise there was there this morning...
  22. well I really just could not decide, so in the end I have pre-ordered two! cheers, Keith
  23. Great stuff, yes the NER volume is excellent (see but also "Great Northern Railway Engine Sheds: Volume 3: Yorkshire & Lancashire", by Roger Griffiths & John Hooper. cheers, Keith
  24. Great to see early LMS livery covered, there's a lovely double page photograph in the book "LMSR Locomotives 1923-1948", volume 2, by H C Casserley, of 17928, in 1927 at Inverness shed, in this particular livery, for those interested. I wonder if we'll see an early LMS liveried McIntosh 812 class from Rails/Bachmann at some point...? Meanwhile, well done Rapido, delighted to see this announcement. cheers, Keith
