Nearly another year on, of playing trains and accumulating stock and stuff, and sketching how things might look... But slightly in abeyance because a house move is possible in the not too distant future. Cue more playing trains, planning and procrastination! With the passage of time since I started this project I've rediscovered my youthful interests in the LMS and rather than just backdate my Spencer Park plank I've taken the decision to place half of the loft layout in North Midlands territory, sometime in the 1930s. The revised plan is an attempt to accommodate these varied interests! All the best, Keith

This is such an inspiring layout, scenery and rolling stock look fantastic - the hatted man on the seat on the platform is one of many small details that really makes this such a lovely bit of period modelling. Excellent service from Bure Valley Models - I placed an online order Thursday night, then an email arrived first thing Friday morning reporting the goods were packed and shipped (1st class recorded), and lo, Saturday morning Royal Mail deliver me a package: Even better, the contents, all well-packed in a sturdy box, a Bachmann LMS Compound, which was only £75, an absolute bargain, and three wagons, also each reduced. Let down only by my gluing and painting! I'm now looking at the Smallbrook 4mm kits for LBSC carriages and wagons, but the chap's narrow gauge range is I think impressive and reasonably priced. Cheers Alex, that would be great. It's a fine looking model from the photos I've seen so far. Looking at BRM the review does state that the 'level of rivet detail on the prototype... is well captured... particularly on the tender '. Now,I'm no rivet counter (no disrespect to those who are) but I do like the look of a rivetted tender...! All the best, Keith

Thanks, yes, that's exactly what I was expecting the tender to be like on the LMS version, as shown also in the BRM review, but not the Railway Modeller review,which made me curious. From comments above it seems these locos also ran with flush-rivetted tenders, something I'd not spotted in photos of the locos in LMS days such as those in Essery and Jenkinson's book on the standard designs. I was so looking forward to this release. I'm a bit put off now by some of the criticisms identified so far, especially the steam pipes and large screw on the coupling rod, but I might live with these, it's the lack of rivet detail on the tender that puts me off most from purchasing one. Having spotted the Bachmann LMS-liveried 'Crab' for £115.50 on Rails' web-site (the lowest price I have yet seen for this model), I was tempted... Order placed very late Sunday evening, despatch email from Rails received by me Monday mid-morning, and said item received here by me in Norn Iron on a wet Tuesday morning before 9am! Well done Rails and Royal Mail - I opted for £5 (24hr 1st class) delivery - which is good value I reckon, and includes tracking. cheers, Keith
