  1. Having spotted the Bachmann LMS-liveried 'Crab' for £115.50 on Rails' web-site (the lowest price I have yet seen for this model), I was tempted... Order placed very late Sunday evening, despatch email from Rails received by me Monday mid-morning, and said item received here by me in Norn Iron on a wet Tuesday morning before 9am! Well done Rails and Royal Mail - I opted for £5 (24hr 1st class) delivery - which is good value I reckon, and includes tracking. cheers, Keith
  2. Such a beautiful piece of modelling, I love the photographs, and what fantastic period-charm - modelling to aspire to! Thanks for posting the photos and inf and sharing these. all the best, Keith
  3. Inf here http://modelshop-northants.co.uk/index.php?route=information/contact Cheers, Keith
  4. ok, it's just that Hattons sent me an email today so I assumed it was news. the LMS liveried loco is still listed as due March/April. cheers, Keith
  5. Just had an update from Hattons saying Our latest information from the supplier suggests this item will arrive with us between April 2017 & May 2017 Cheers, Keith
  6. The smokebox number plate and nameplate from City of Coventry is on the wall in the stairwell of Coventry station, along with a colour photograph of the loco. It's been there as long as I remember, perhaps put up when the loco was scrapped as the station was brand new then. If you're visiting, it's the stairs between platforms two and three. Coventry station is due to be rebuilt, sadly so in my view as the station is iconic of its time. I hope the loco plates reappear in the new station when it finally sees completion. All the best, Keith
  7. Houghton Hall garden centre has a craft and hobby shop in the basement, they do sell Hornby too, occasionally their bargain bin is worth a look. Just off the motorway to the east of Carlisle. Good café for breakfast too! Cheers, Keith
  8. Looking at 'LMS Engine Sheds Vol 2 The Midland Railway', the 1920 allocation list shows how ubiquitous these locos were across the Midland network. No. 1273 itself was allocated to Buxton in 1920, which suits my north Midland interests well! No. 1303 was based at Gloucester by 1945. I'm delighted with the 2017 Bachmann announcement, the 1P complementing the imminent Webb Coal tank, and with the current Crab, and soon to arrive Mogul, us LMS folks have got a lot to thank Bachmann for. Just need to save a few more pennies (er, pounds)... and gives me a bit more time to finish the layout. (I think I said that when the Webb tank was first announced, but might be ready in time for the arrival of the 1P...). And Hornby too has a good LMS offering in their 2017 announcement, with the 8F and Rebuilt Scot, in later liveries too, will go well with the new Duchess, for those with wartime/post-war LMS interests. All in all, good news I reckon :-) all the best, Keith
  9. Thanks for the inf here Brian, I was just looking through the older posts on this thread and came across your pictures of south Wales industrial railways, excellent stuff! For those who haven't seen these - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/28737-south-wales-industrial-railways/ cheers, Keith PS - digging down to the earlier threads there're lots of interesting discussions on prototype industrial matters as well as modelling topics (which seem to be more dominant in the more recent posts).
  10. I think I'll be tempted to preorder too looking at your prices! Cheers, Keith
  11. tbh, the upward revised price for the D600 is pretty much on a par with other D&E models, as the recent Hornby announcement has shown, so I'll not be put off putting an order in either, . all the best, Keith
  12. Thanks for this recommendation, I looked it up (a new one on me) and ordered it, the book arriving today - what a marvellous and evocative volume it is! So full of atmosphere, and a fantastic photographic record of a world we have lost. Your new layout looks top too! cheers, Keith
  13. another excellent Kernow experience - look at this fantastic packing: containing the Hornby MSC Peckett and the Bachmann E4 - in LBSCR umber, a beautiful model, lovely gold lining, and for less than £70 too! cheers, Keith
  14. Hi Michael, Sounds like a great project. I'm sure you're right about the stacking ground for loco coal, lots of similar examples looking at LMS Engine Sheds book by Hawkins and Reeve. Evesham is in Worcestershire not Gloucestershire so you might be better putting your post in the section on modelling real locations or in the modelling questions sections? Good luck with the project! Great to see another LMS layout being built. I'll be interested to see how things develop. Cheers, Keith
  15. Blimey, that makes me feel old!! How time passes... Cheers, Keith
  16. Well spotted - I wonder if we'll see the previously 'cancelled' green 31 in 2017...? Would be nice! cheers, Keith
  17. Thanks Jason for posting the links. The IRS issue in 1974 is particularly interesting, the end of the "Pecketts in Retrospect" article (http://www.irsociety.co.uk/Archives/53/Retrospect.htm) comments poignantly: "It is sad to think that there will be no more Pecketts." True, though Hornby's lovely new model will help keep the name alive. Cheers, Keith
  18. True, but the new Hornby Class 87 has the same rrp... Just the way things are going I guess. Bit beyond my price range though. All the best, Keith
  19. An update at http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/104/Warship_Limited_Editions £169.99 now. All the best, Keith
  20. Also Dodo listed at Holt Model Railways http://www.holtmodelrailways.com/index.htm Search under Peckett. Cheers, Keith
  21. Brilliant, I think you've really captured a thirties look through this attention to detail. Will we soon see a Coal Tank trundling through the station!? All the best Keith
  22. ok not quite RTR but almost: http://www.smallbrookstudio.co.uk/products/4569521210/4mm-IoW-Southern certainly a range to consider for something for the E4 to haul. the Smallbrook resin kits fit Dapol chassis so reasonably easy to assemble. all the best, Keith
  23. Interesting, just had an email from rails and the price appears to have increased since I checked this morning. I should have ordered one then! Cheers, Keith
  24. Would it be possible to get a measurement of the height of the cab, just wondering if the Bagnel might be ok for 5.5mm scale, looks a little like an 18 inch gauge loco? All the best, Keith
  25. Possibly a Renault 12 estate on the end? Certainly has a seventies French look about it! Great pics. Cheers, Keith
