  1. Just spotted that Smallbrook Studio has released a 5.5mm kit to convert Bachmann 'Thomas' range 'Bill/Ben': http://www.smallbrookstudio.co.uk/products-new/4569521214/5.5mm-scale-peckett-conversion-kit/10983517 Apols if this has been posted elsewhere before! all the best, Keith PS - re post above, I rejoined the 5.5mm Association :-)
  2. Rails of Sheffield have weathered versions of the Oxford LSWR Adams for £79.50 in today's Advent deal: https://railsofsheffield.com/rails-advent-calendar-9th-december-JJJGP2053.aspx Unweathered versions are also on sale are Rails for ten quid less... https://railsofsheffield.com/oxford-rail-or76ar003-adams-radial-4-4-2t-488-in-lswr-JJJA27454.aspx Could be tempted myself at that price! I was tempted at that price... duly ordered cheers, Keith
  3. can we have a separate flags thread for flaggy musings and leave this one to discussing Pecketts!!? cheers, Keith
  4. and Dodo on the sixteenth too. Cheers, Keith
  5. Musing on the Layout Topics thread, impressionistically the main topic for layout projects appears to be BR sectorisation and privatisation period followed by WR steam? Would be curious to see a proper analysis done on this based on layout descriptions!

Sounds a bit like my own layout plans! There's nothing like having some variety - for me, 1930s LMS, plus a bit of pre-war SR when I fancy it, then 1958-92 Eastern Region (ex-GER/GNR), steam and diesel, plus a few green diesels of the LMR and WR, then BR Blue D&E, 1974-1982! No wonder I am getting nothing done...

  6. just to report excellent service from Kernow: less than 24 hours between me placing my order and a parcel being delivered! and all the way from Cornwall to Norn Iron, amazing. (well done Royal Mail too). all the best, Keith
  7. same here - order placed yesterday lunchtime (Friday), despatched same day, and postie delivered parcel this morning (Saturday) - amazing! excellent service. cheers, Keith
  8. nice picture! the repaint of 6233 is due in 2017 according to the PRCLT: "It is planned to repaint 46233 into Crimson Lake livery in early/mid 2017" http://www.prclt.co.uk/6233-duchess-of-sutherland.html all the best, Keith
  9. the LMS liveried loco looks fantastic, I'm certainly saving up for one of those, and likewise the Webb Coal Tank, what a beautiful pair... ['you took the words right out of my marf...'] all the best, Keith
  10. Same thing happened to me earlier this year, so I decided not to do preorders again, til I saw the Peckett was rapidly selling out, even on preorders - so I bit the bullet on that one and preordered it! - but as a rule I'm not ordering til I see the goods for real and see what feedback models get on RMWeb before splashing the cash even if that means paying a few more sponds... cheers, Keith
  11. ah, for me it has to be Furlong’s Ale House: https://furlongsfaversham.wordpress.com/ excellent ales. cheers, Keith
  12. That station building looks superb Can I ask, what paints did you use for the doors and windows? Lovely layout, an inspiration to prompt me to make some progress on mine! All the best, Keith
  13. The layout looks brilliant Stuart, love the scenic work, the hills look like they're really made of chalk! Proper Southern country. You've captured the character of the landscape perfectly. all the best, Keith
  14. I'd assumed it was because Hornby had adjusted the rrp http://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/peckett-0-4-0t.html We'll see! Cheers, Keith
  15. Model Mania in Bristol has these Eckon yard lamps listed for sale. They're listed in their EBay shop if you're looking at mail order. all the best, Keith
  16. Seeing all this, especially the Fairy Glen Railway 18" gauge models above, has inspired me to rejoin the 5.5mm Association! Time to get my 5.5mm scale figures out again and some old 009 track I think... cheers, Keith
  17. I seem to be spending more and more of my RMWeb time lingering in the SG Industrial Modelling section, the new DJ Models Austerity and the forthcoming Hornby Peckett getting me thinking...

so you need to look at Judith Edge kits, RT models et al for more Industrial inspiration

they are very tempting, I could try cutting my teeth (not literally) on one of the more basic kits - I've not tried brass before.

  18. The email from Rails says, 'No action is necessary', so I guess there's no need to do anything, unless anyone's wishing to cancel. all the best, Keith
  19. same here, but my email somewhat bizarrely said the price had decreased: "You have pre-orders where the price has decreased. No action is necessary, this is just a courtesy email." even though as you say, the price has actually increased! I want my Dodo so I am sticking with this, especially as Hatton's pre-orders for the model have sold out (and in fact now cheaper than the Rails price!). I might just pre-order the MSC Peckett too, from Hatton's @ £70, just to keep Dodo company... all the best, Keith
  20. I also bought some of these a while back: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151827330453 not a bad price, and as far as I can tell, from old photos etc, these lamps were still around in yards and on platforms into BR days so would be fine for a multi-period layout. all the best, Keith
  21. hi Alex, I opted for the MSE yard lamp (LS002) obtained from Wizard Models - see http://www.wizardmodels.co.uk/ all the best, Keith
  22. According to Hatton's 'Due into stock between October 2016 & December 2016' Cheers, Keith
  23. Special delivery just arrived from Track Shack :-) it's playtime!

  24. I see Golden Valley Hobbies Barclay 0-6-0 loco 'Ajax' is now in stock at retailers. The retailers are describing the model as 00 and 1:76 scale, is that correct? http://www.hattons.co.uk/196488/Golden_Valley_Hobbies_GV2018_Barclay_0_6_0T_Ajax_in_lined_black_livery/StockDetail.aspx Does anyone have one? Presumably it is based on this: http://www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk/Ajax.aspx I'm tempted, seems a good price too (£54 at Hattons). The GVH web-site describes it thus: "Petroleum Black Ajaz 0-6-0 Petroleum black livery with Red and white lining to water tanks and coal bunker. Red coupling rods and buffer beam. Ajax name plate printed onto the body. Based on Barclay 0-6-0 loco purchased in 1918 by the Sulphide Corporation of London. Extensive travels via the War Department and Persia before use in several UK locations: Swansea, Wales Stanton Iron Works, Sheffield Harlaxton Ironstone Quarries, Grantham Produced by Electrotren exclusively for Golden Valley Hobbies. Available from us and selected good model shops. DCC Ready - 6 pin socket. Requires micro decoder such as CT Electronic DCX76ZF Fitted with UK Hornby style couplings." all the best, Keith
  25. I'll look forward to seeing the pics, your layout really captures the LMS in the thirties I reckon, lovely stuff. Cheers, Keith
