  1. Having seen some of the wall fixing methods for these sorts of things, I'm unsure that'd be wise without more support brackets as a lot of the shelves Ikea sell aren't designed for much weight, probably fine with N gauge though as I would imagine that a small layout wouldn't add up very heavy, but OO, modern locos can get quite heavy now combined with the weight of scenic and control stuff etc.
  2. Listened to it last night. A promising start. The quality of the phone interview wasn't great sadly, perhaps a technology limitation? Look forward to seeing what the next one is like.
  3. Having just read the article. It seems an interesting concept and I look forward to seeing it develop. I need to get some more Billy bookcase shelves as some of mine have sagged due to weight of books, I'll swap shelves around with the Sci-fi/Fantasty shelves first though. The small metal bits don't give a lot of support sadly with anything more than a moderate load on the 80cm shelves, so a brace might be worthwhile. The shelves are available separately at least and for iirc, £10 each for the 80cm ones if you need more. If you run out of the metal bits that they sit on, IKEA will send you more if you request them via their spares dept.
  4. Very sad news indeed. A fantastic modeller and very knowledgeable. I never got to meet in person, but he was always helpful and his modelling was inspiring. Newhaven Harbour is listed as attending the Railex show in May.
  5. I only really count something as vintage if it is 30 years old or unique/special (thats why things like Costworths were always considered classics even 15 years ago, as they were unique, as an example). My '05 Mondeo is certainly not vintage. Old and a tank yes, vintage no. I will miss it mind when it finally has to go for scrap, but it has served well for what it is needed for (lugging stuff about). I do rather miss driving a classic, even if the last one was a '74 Viva HC with barely enough power to keep itself moving, it was still lively enough to have some fun to it (the '64 HA was more fun, but less practical and got wiped out by a fence panel, horizontally (loose load) sadly).
  6. I'd probably pronounce it like you did. But some places can get weird pronouncenations. Take Bedworth, pronounced Bed'uth locally. Or my home town, Erith, some pronounce it Er-ith, others Ear-if.
  7. 1A stall current is a bit like the Heljan 47 in a sense. a new 220/221 (maybe 222 too?) might be on Bachmann's radar for the future, but I'd expect it in a good few years or more, not anytime soon. I'd also love it if they did an electrostar to complement the turbostars.
  8. Hi all, As some might known I've been (slowly) working on a plan for a small Harton inspired layout. I've been trying to find information/photos of the High Staithes branch and its buildings, but without much success, the only photo so far in the William Hatcher book is all I've found. Does anyone know of any other sources that might help with this? I'd like to make a replica of the building, but the Oakwood book photo is quite small to see much detail sadly. If I can't find much I'll just have to freelance it a bit I guess. Another Harton query related to liveries, having ready the William Hatcher book, I noticed he doesn't state a date for the change to white livery, but states the dates for Royal Blue (1958/9) and the final green (1970 something - forget which without looking), but not white. We're still trying to pin down a date for the layout, and a mixture of liveries would add some interest potentially.
  9. Morning all. Hope all are well? if not speedy recovery/sympathy as appropriate. Up early for a change today as Richard was up early to go to college at 4.30am and I couldn't get back to sleep. As I'm picking up Natalie later on to go back to my flat, I figure might as well stay up now and get some DEMU work done, whilst Poppy snores on the spare bed. Tomorrow off to the Warley club for their open day, should be interesting.
  10. Was another excellent show. Look forward to next year!
  11. Thanks. I'll certainly give it some thought over the next few days.
  12. That is great. How long do you expect before delivery?
  13. Absolutely no need for them myself, but a good bit of joined up thinking it seems and highly likely to be very popular with the number of 68s already sold.
  14. Interesting news! will you be able to offer payment plans like SLW did with their 24s? as 92s are very much of interest to me.

You might have to go through the credit card company complaints procedure before you go to the ombudsman, I've dealt with the energy one, and that is how they often expect it to be, so that they're you last call in effect.
  16. Morning all. Hope all are well? if not, best wishes, etc. Up early for a change as off to the Stafford show in a bit. Just got to try and get Natalie to wake up... she needs an 'I AIN'T DEAD' sign on her at times!
  17. I was saddened to hear of his death. A funny, witty clever man who by a number of accounts was a good man.
  18. Natalie & myself may make the trip down again, funds/health dependent. Been a while since the last we attended.
  19. Been working slowly on stock for this, with 2 Slater's NER/LNER 20t hoppers taking shape. Need to decide on a sprining system, as I think they'll be needed for the use of those potentially. As my flat is currently feeling too cold to do much modelling, I've yet to make a start on building points/track, but I have been thinking about some tweaks to the plan, when I get chance I'll update the templot file and upload here. One change will be to rotate the 3ftx2ft fiddle yard board 90 degrees, to eliminate the need to curve round for storage and give a little extra length for gradients (one line will be going down to docks level, the teeming shed line up to a higher level slightly and a coal drop siding). There is possibly going to be a small bit of trackwork on the 'dock/tyne' board, but yet to decide fully.
  20. Glad the site is back. Will take a bit of getting used to the new theme, but other than being a bit bright for me it looks fairly clean. I appreciate it complicates matters, but if it proves possible, a night/dark theme would be a nice addition at a later date perhaps. Keep up the good work Andy.
  21. Glad RMWeb is back. Looking on eBay for some sunglasses due to the new theme, but otherwise all is good.
