  1. Not an easy decision to make with such a big show. But likely the only option in the end. I wasn't intending to attend (not for any reasons other than personal finances). Good luck with future show options, but if rearranging is liable to cause a lot of extra work, might be best to just leave it to next year by which time hopefully things will have settled down a bit more. However, whatever decision is made, best of luck and take care.
  2. Nice work. The grille on the side behind the cab should also be plated over. I've a plan to do one at some point in the future.
  3. How about a new build Leader With modern technologies and oil firing it ... might work...
  4. I believe that the cut off is 1st January 1973 for tax free. A lot of post 73 cars got scrapped due to that change, so some post 73 Vivas will be harder to find these days as a result, unless they're Firenza/Magnums etc. I had several HCs and a 64 HA for a while as daily drivers up to 2008 when I moved (I didn't own them, I borrowed them from a ex who didn't have room on the drive for all the Vivas he had collected at that point). Generally reliable and fun to drive, the suspension feeling much better than an equivalent Escort!
  5. Last few weeks there have been a team of workers digging up footpaths installing new electrical cabling, I presume it is for the street lighting generally, but wouldn't be surprised if provision has been made for future EV needs (although it is on the wrong side of the road to where people tend to park currently!).
  6. Morning All. hope all are well? if not, best wishes as appropriate. Up early for Leamington Show today and tomorrow. Should be a good show.
  7. DEMU stand set up and ready for the weekend. Looking forward to a good show.
  8. Quite probably. The urgency would have been a big factor.
  9. The British and Germans I believe arranged for scheduled airdrops for some such things. One such drop being Douglas Bader's replacement legs!
  10. Another option that might be easier to fit inside the body is this. Other manufacturers/versions exist. IMO this is much better than hardwiring the loco, as blown decoders don't mean needing to get the soldering iron out, etc. and conversion for DC is simple too.
  11. Get a socket harness, and replace the board, and retain the pluggable chip option that way. You could even get a 21pin one if you wanted to add extra functions that the original pcb won't offer with an 8pin socket.
  12. It shouldn't be too difficult to make a 3D representation to go over the top of them to represent those and hide the roundness of them. Trouble with UK stock, most was 3link/screw well past the 60s still. I've not seen a reliable 3link/screw that is automatic without needing the shunters pole to be employed.
  13. I'd like to add to Natalie's post, by giving my own thanks. Though I take exception to her exaggeration of the destructive power of my scooter! thankfully this year I didn't have a repeat of last years snapped key (forcing the need to abandon the scooter and walk around the show), this year the scooter behaved itself and the show was very enjoyable. The 3mm layouts, especially the LU/LT layouts were very good and otherwise a good selection of layouts in the rest of the show. We'll be back next year.
  14. Might be worth a complaint to trading standards too. The garage might have done this a few times with other cars and gotten away with it.
  15. Have watched Picard Episodes 1-3, enjoyed it (I also enjoyed Discovery, which definitely got a lot better in season 2!). Episodes 1-3 of Picard are the pilot episode really. The show doesn't really officially considered starting until Episode 4 as a result, so bear that in mind. Episodic format of tv died in the 90s really, after Babylon 5 became popular with the story arc, and DS9 then took that on board to some extent, since then Trek has been serial rather than episodic much more. You will be hard pressed to find shows that stick rigidly to the episodic format these days really, especially on the streaming services, where serialised series work better for that format.
  16. Morning awl, A wet, dreary Coventry this morning. Hope all are well however, if not, usual sympathies and best wishes. Currently trying to get Natalie up and ready so we can go to Stafford today for what should be a great show (usually is). Feeling rather tired, but nothing several cuppas won't fix!
  17. Only a few plates, usually for catching them and putting a crack or some reason for the MOT to fail them usually.
  18. Soggy Coventry brought to you by Natalie reading out Early Risers. A bit like the Shipping Forecast, but ships are few and far between...
  19. Afternoon awl. Hope everyone is well, if not, sympathy and best wishes as appropriate. Once again a case of early rising for me being the afternoon, my sleep patterns proving beyond logic again. Nothing planned today, so not really an issue. Remembered to phone my mum however to wish her happy birthday and enquire how my father is getting on with his chemo sessions. All good for the most part thankfully. Woken up with a pounding headache, but not unusual as got the flu jab yesterday and that usually leaves me a feeling a bit out of sorts for a day or two. Bacon on the grill for bacon sarnies now and a cuppa.
  20. In some respects, the Harton No.2/No.10 is even smaller than a 48DS! It is lower and has small bonnets either side of a small cab.
  21. That is looking rather good. Though with the support structure it looks a little reminiscent of the Luggage from Discworld.
  22. On a tangent, I'm building a Harton No.2 at present and the thought of DCC sound has occured to me. Fitting sound to the 0-4-0 is likely not going to be possible I expect though and not so keen on a attached wagon really. The bo-bo No. 13-15 however...
  23. running over trouble makers can be arranged if needed Sunday should be a good show.
  24. Everytime I've needed to replace the plates on my car, either via eBay or the garage I use if the plates fail the MoT for some reason (usually cracks, etc) I've never been asked to produce anything like my V5C or other identification. Probably not needed in the case of the garage due to the MoT being done at the time. Nile's experience is a horrible one, proving some virtue perhaps in things like facebook selfies? as they're gps and device tagged even if posted privately.
  25. Evening awl. Early rising for me is an ever moving target it seems... I think my body has a pot luck attitude to time zones! Anyway, today was the annual asthma check. Which for the most part was fine. The bit that wasn't fine was the weight check etc. So appointment to see the GP in a week or so to discuss some options. ER has been a bit surreal today, as Natalie seems to have a want to read posts out to me whilst staying at mine (for a MERG meeting Saturday just gone and for Stafford show on Sunday). Looking forward to the weekend, with the first show of the year (technically, DEFine was, but I view that more of a social gathering than a show) at Stafford. Should be good fun. Now to cook a roast gammon for dinner...
