  1. Looking good Andrew, This posting has come just at the right time, as I am currently in the process of changing the fiddle yard on my Campbell Riverside (AKA Swansea Riverside) from cassettes to a sector plate and was looking for ideas for alignment. Say hi to the lads at the Luton MRC from me. Regards John
  2. Looking at improving the operation of the fiddle yard on Campbell Riverside. Currently I use cassettes which work fine, the only down side that I have found is if I want to change stock over quickly it can sometimes be a bit awkward changing the cassettes over. So at the moment I am looking at using a sector plate system which will give me 3 roads the length being the same as the cassettes so no loss of storage space. I did consider using points and a fan of sidings, but that would mean extending the length of the fiddle yard (Not impossible, but I want to keep the layout with-in the current footprint).
  3. Hi Gerry, It was great to meet you over the Easter weekend at Wexford. I enjoyed seeing both your layouts, though I no longer model in N gauge Cynwyd is superb. It was a great weekend and thank you for allowing me to exhibit my Campbell Riverside layout. Regards John
  4. Campbell Riverside all set up for the Wexford Easter Show. The new lighting pelmet has helped to frame the layout a lot better. I am pleased to say that the layout and all the locos performed well over the two days. The next outing for Campbell Riverside is 26th & 27th May in Bangor at the First Bangor Model Railway Exhibition.
  5. I used to quite often visit Gee Dee models when I had my PNB booked at Notts. Just enough time to stroll from Midland station, have a browse and maybe a purchase or two then just enough time to get back to the station for the return working back to London St.P. Regards John
  6. Campbell Riverside will be on show at the annual Easter Exhibition to be hosted by Wexford Model Railway Club at St Joseph's Community Centre, Wexford, Republic of Ireland on Sunday 16th and Bank Holiday Monday 17th April 2017. Regards John
  7. Agree, Tampers got to be the worst. I remember conducting one on the DC lines from Watford Jcn. - Willesden. Was glad to get of the thing. Next 'rough ride was a 313 again on the DC Euston - Watford with a 'Flat'. You would also log the rough riding in the repair book, next time you were on the same unit or traction comments would usually be 'tested on depot, no fault found'.
  8. Great pic of 046 at Bristol TM. Good old days of 'Real' trains.
  9. Going to go through my 0 gauge stock and have a clear out. Did not realise I had so much.

  11. Had my Class 50, 50 026 in NSE livery arrive today from Bure Valley Models, 3rd time I have ordered from them. Very happy and excellent service.
  12. Hi all, Here are my first two examples of weathered 40' box cars for Campbell Riverside. This is my first attempt at weathering rolling stock, I will do a few more wagons before I attempt some loco's.
  13. Campbell Riverside has been exhibited on the Irish exhibition circuit since 2014 and is continuing to prove popular for all who see it. Since my first exhibition in 2014, the layout has continued to be improved, with the introduction of the 'auto-shuttle' on the high level track and gradually improving the back scene. I have now made a start on weathering the rolling stock, this will be followed by weathering of some of the locos as well. One improvement that I would like to make before the next exhibition is to make a lighting pelmet possibly using LED strips.
  14. My parcel from Hawkins arrived this afternoon. Now what to do with the Red Arrow glider....

  21. Will the sausages be in the correct livery to take in all the regional flavours......
  22. I am still awaiting my subscription copy. It has been in the shops here in Ireland now for over a week. I thought that if you were a subscriber you got the issue before it was in the shops. Called Bauer customer services yesterday and was told that it has been sent out and that non UK subscribers copies are sent out 11 days afterwards!!! This I find strange as UK to Ireland with Royal Mail / Anpost is normally on average 3 -5 days. When I took out the subscription, the conformation stated that it would run from issue 227 and I should receive it on or around the 22/9/16. There is a note that for EU it will be 3/5 days for delivery. So counting 5 working days I would have expected it last week. Now considering cancelling my subscription.
  23. So, will there be a class 373 preservation group? .............
  24. Campbell Riverside in operation at the Erne MRC exhibition in Lisnaskea 17th September 2016. There is a little well known blue engine that makes an occasional appearence which the younger children and even parents like.
