  1. I thought they had gone to batteries, for some reason yea I found the little diagram with the showing how to wave the wand tell you what they don’t half work better with some power from the tack! I’ll get me coat.
  2. Ok I just received my BR MK2b ex fk 19486 very nice model. Comes with a wand unlike the nuclear wagon I got. Gave it a wave with the wand nothing , opened it up thinking needs batteries like the nuclear wagons did. Seems there’s two fitted. So the question is where do you wave it over incase I missed it? Top sides end none seem to work. The batteries might be dead but the soldering is very suspect to snapping! And should the copper prongs be hovering over the second set of pads under the false ceiling?
  3. Looking good Baz. Even better seeing some of your coaching stock on the tracks.
  4. Didn’t Hornby do some, and if near enough is good enough then Hornby’s near enough should be good enough. I’d rather wait to see some correct MR, LMS or even L&YR stock for that matter. Not to mention Accurascale being known for making their rolling stock to the same high level of detail has their locomotives. Why on earth would they suddenly drop the standards of models all because it’s LMS! That’s the type of thing Hornby would do and then get it in the neck. Personally I think poor Fran gets enough to reply to with out having to try justify it’s only LMS
  5. Cheers sorry I slept since then, only 11/ 12 years ago. Seems longer.
  6. Well you picked the prices of the models before Bachmann was taken over. After this it was found that many of the models were being produced at a loss! There was a period where the prices doubled over just a few years. The the early 2000s I believe. It is documented on this site somewhere. The moaning was about the prices people saying it was the end of the hobby the apocalypse had started women and children screaming in the street men crying on the steps, unable to afford the basics on the hobby. Andy York fed up with telling people to shut up. It was awful, man My eyes welled up and everything it was terrible man, you don’t know you weren’t there! So you really need to add say £20 to your starting price. Oh, and Batman coaches are simply better. has for the tooling costs well if you keep the tooling cost in with the price it rises money for a replacement tooling when it wears out, plus extra tooling for new models in the future with out hitting the pure profits made so hard.
  7. Well I have the Hornby super detailed golden Orchid 31. a Accurascale 31 Dutch livery on order, so might has well go the full hog, one Bachmann 31 rail fright red stripe ordered. £305. 95 for the sfx model will do nicely.
  8. Excuse me just when I step over all these toys on the floor today. There’s been quite a few steam locos announced over the last few months, from other manufacturers. Nice to see some BR for a change. Bit spoiled for choice myself.
  9. £400 now I wouldn’t be surprised, but £100 more for tinted windows and a auto uncoupling is a lot, set against the Accurascale model. Especially If both models are has good as their preproduction samples seem to indicate. I’ve never been brand loyal so if the pricing is closer I’d be willing to buy a model depending on livery. I suppose the coming announcement will be the deal breaker in a few minutes.
  10. Just wondering if spares of the cab light are available. Just noticed one cab light isn’t working. I have given the contracts and pins a clean but hasn’t made any difference.
  11. Well the 56 023, has had surgery the sound decorder has had the tank speaker removed by wiggling the wires and the twin speaker was soldered to the main board. The sound is much better more fuller. Not saying the speaker provided with the decoder was bad but there’s a noticeable improvement in sound quality. All back together now and I have to say when the 56 is ticking over next to the Accurascale 37 (sound lowered due to start failure problem) umm well the 37 is somewhat drowned out! I don’t want to say one model is better than the other because I love them both and have 2 more 37s on order.
  12. Yesterday running 37 607 going round all nice and load no problems runs into a siding. Stops in the siding turns on the yard lights f22 & f23 and all goes quiet. None of the Sounds respond. The loco still moves and lights work but no sound. Now I have previously turned down the sound level cv as it did the fail on start up thing but this is a new trick on me. Has anyone else had this happen. if I do the take it of the track and wait trick works it gets it working again. Only to do it again if yard lights and sound is activated together.
  13. Well at least I know I’m not putting it in the wrong way round.
  14. The best way to do this is pay in full, I didn’t order mine to late November/ December last year. Put the £30 deposit down then phoned Rails up fortnightly and paid the remainder in two lumps.
  15. Either that or Fat fingers and not reading what I’ve written. I’ve changed it just has you where writing this.
  16. This model is definitely growing on me, now I might be having a mishap with fitting the speaker, but the one that was fitted to the decor seems just fine. More than load enough with enough bass without shacking the tiles of the roof. The 56 looks just has good as the Accurascale scale 37 both having their advantages. But the 56 seems much easier to use sound wise. The start up with the ability to have a cold start and failed start is a lovely touch. Once the engine is running hit f5 and f6 throttle it up watch both fans running hit f5 release driver hold let her start to move press it again to keep the speed, repeat if when necessary to gain speed. I’m sorry it’s almost like being a kid again the model invites you to play trains with it. what helps is all the little noises it makes before it sets off. I’ve been interested in trains for too many years (steam for the main) but I don’t know how you drive them and wouldn’t know which buttons to press if the sounds where assigned to f buttons. Where the 56 does some of these for you. The 56 seems much more user friendly for the everyday modeler and wins over the 37. I well be voting the 56 as model of the year next year, and the only thing that might stop me is the class 60 when you release it later in the year. Which I was wasn’t going to get but I am now.
  17. Yep I have double checked that I was trying them the right way round.
  18. Well this one would need a little plastic taking off the plug otherwise it’s going to split the socket open or break something on the bored. I’ll get into with the supplier of the speaker to double check it’s the right one received. I suppose I could solder it into the pads on the board. But I rather not risk that.
  19. Ok what have I done wrong! now I remember the sound decoders where running a little late. went to have a look and found one that says for the Cavalex 56. Order it and it turned up today it came with a speaker fitted with a small but still rather nice speaker and all works, sounds lights fan brilliant. However I did ordered a (before the decorder) speaker mentioned on this thread and confirmed by cavalex. Looks like the one in photo a few pages back. But the plug doesn’t fit! In the socket marked spk.
  20. Really impressed with the speed of fix for a possible problem others are experiencing which I had only seen one person enquiring about. I suspect checking the loco is flat and square on the base with the bogies straight before the screws are tighten. will avoid coursing the problem in the future for owners wishing to transport their models from time to time. Might be obvious but in the excitement of removing my model I didn’t look to see if anything was fitted in a certain way to stop this. Ie dose the model have to be mounted in one direction or something.
  21. Well I’ve put in a 21 pin decorder and gave it a little run. Can only run the lights for now. But I was expecting that will be getting a sound decoder in the future. It’s almost silent and runs very smooth straight out the box. you guys at Cavalex have managed to pull off a excellent job. I hope you guys are proud of your achievement. I know I am and I only bought it! I have only two little niggles, well one suggestion really. the securing screws, could these be made so they stay in the cradle so us older folk (suffering from a slight hangover) don’t have to go rummage around the floor to find when they fall out. the other In all fairness I have paid in full for 56 023, only to find out I am going have to pay the same amount all over again for….. for 56 074! After I told myself ohh I only need one 56.
  22. Yesterday I got a email from rail’s saying just been dispatched. A little disappointed hoping it would have turn up yesterday evening. But at least I knew it was on ts way and would arrive on Monday. Unlocked the front door and sitting in the porch is a brown wrapped parcel. oh wow I’m over the moon, it’s just packed with detail.
  23. Wasted money on a rather poor paint scheme. Looks very amateurish and boring. Couldn’t decide on what colour the grills should be, ‘Red no, black no, white! What do you mean white!’ reminds me of the corporate bus colours of a 1980s in Leicester red, black and grey. The logo is just dreadful. The block font is dull as dish water, with the rather unimaginative logo looks like a trainee graphic designer was given the job at 2 o’clock on Friday afternoon. The poor thing needs rescuing and repainting into triple gray rail freight scheme. Or something equally handsome.
  24. You’ll be telling me next, I’ve wasted my money on getting a gallon of diesel in specially for mine.
  25. Sometimes a D’oh!! button is needed!
