  2. My late father drove 5080 on one of those loco driving courses at Tyseley and I can still see the smile on his face when he'd finished.I'd do her too if she had a West Country connection. Spitfire was originally called Clifford Castle and was built in 1938.
  3. Why have the stems on my sweet peas gone all kinky then.

  4. What a splendid post David.Yes I will be doing an aircraft Castle but probably Fairey Battle to start with due to Hornby releasing one with a shortlived Hawksworth tender. All the NA Castles had Collett tenders post war so I can't do Spitfire,Hurricane or Beaufort with the new release.Incidently have you seen Spitfire near Saltern Cove in that Wild Swan book we have. Another Earl as well oh go on then.
  5. Thanks Mike. What about this for a better colour match http://www.humbrol.com/shop/paints/aa0165-15-midnight-blue-gloss-14ml-enamel-paint/
  6. Not half as much as some saffron buns from Joseph Aulds corner store though.Meanwhile Tigley Junction is busy and would be a joy for a shed bunker today as 2884 class 3864 passes by with a train of empty cattle wagons destined for Ponsandane Sidings maybe for some broccoli traffic later. As the new Hornby 28xx release is delayed this will have to work much harder. Those who regularly follow this thread may know what I'm thinking regarding another faded backscene in photo 1. Can anyone help with a shirtbutton location in this thread please http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/73935-siphon-g-in-shirtbutton-livery/
  7. I think they're currently staying at the Packhorse Inn till they find somewhere of their own but how come they're on the up platform then.
  8. 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' taken at Arley on the SVR going to see Father C.
  9. Thanks Mike and I'm still none the wiser on which Humbrol/Revell colour to use to correct it. The farmer is getting impatient as he wants it for Kingsbridge fair week.
  10. Mike Roper, the porter can't believe his eyes after unloading the luggage from the 45xxs coach.Look who's sitting next to Zach Plunkett on the bench. One wonders what the conversation entailed but the Flora looks quite distressed. She might have heard the news that my City are playing their 'home' games in Northampton this season but then again maybe not.Either way its nice to see the Finching sisters home again. I'm sure Mikkel or Mallard will have the answer.....
  11. Arthur Snodgrass heard she took their milk off them and wasn't very fond of Yorkshire coal either. Are they catching the train back then.
  12. Off topic I know but as its the summer season now here's a few more I took of 7827 taken at Saltern Cove. The sidings where the coaches were stabled on summer Saturdays at Goodrington are now a hardly used car park. How times have changed.
  13. Apologies if I've shewn this before as I've just stumbled across it.Another thread mentioned a beach hut at Mudeford Quay going for 200k.These at Goodrington cost £220 to hire for the summer season. Not keen on 7827 in black lined livery but a lovely line obviously aimed at tourists and not enthusiasts.Wish it still used semaphores instead of colour light signals. There's also a steam paddle steamer 'Kingswear Castle' in use now at Dartmouth. http://www.dartmouthrailriver.co.uk/days-out/paddle-steamer-kingswear-castle
  14. A few more of 7202 in action now with the bag of bits added and even a crew [Falcon] ! I really must get around to detailing that greenhouse as I'm sure it would have been bursting with goodies at this time of the year.An open door will be a start.
  15. Now you're talking.A man after my own heart.Lovely job Mark.Nobodies told you the paint job is the wrong shade yet like they did with my Fordson tractor ! Great weathering job.

    Hornby Star Class

Thats not a totally recent photo of the Star so maybe the chimney will correct when released.
  18. Well spotted young sir. They must have been bent out of shape by the portly driver who's been scoffing too many of Mr Aulds pasties. How are the Finching sisters doing in Grantham.

    Hornby Star Class

I haven't seen one in the flesh yet and the only image I've seen so far of the Star was this on the Model Rail facebook page so it must have had a radical change in production as this looks very nice.
