  1. I meant to ask you young Spams but have you got an up to date photo taken from the same spot as that photo I sent you recently of Hellandbridge.Just want to compare.
  2. Found myself in a strange town.Though I've only been here for three weeks now.I've got blisters on my feet, trying to find a friend in Oxford St.

  3. Right then here something to make those Finching sisters miss home, blue ones or not.Apologies to the diehard GWR followers but I've moved the timeframe forward 10 years to 1957 for these shots. Here we see King class 6015 'King Richard 111' on the down 730 Paddington to Penzance service on a glorious summers morning in the South Hams... More to come sisters..... When you have a King ,you can stick those streaks where the sun don't shine.
  4. More of 6814/5011 as they round the curve. The observant viewers may notice a better Ratio signal that's temporaly replaced the decrepit earlier version.Come on Dapol where's your brackets..
  5. I agree but sometimes that can look like bad modelling.I was at the SVR recently when a Manor smashed into the brand new buffer stop at Kidderminster. The loco was ok thankfully but not the stop.
  6. Chatting with Dave Franks on this thread here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/68948-new-4mm-bufferstops-new/ and he tells me there are plans for a new GWR buffer stop.A bit of patience and hopefully soon it can replace this horrible offering I have at the moment.
  7. You can tell Kingsbridge fair week is approaching as the yard starts to get busy.4547 is seen shunting a beetle cattle wagon and two horseboxes. This is the Parkside kit that I'm going to change the livery on to the shirtbutton as its too early period as it is now. There's a good article on building this kit here http://www.gwr.org.uk/probeetle.html If Spams wants to build one in 7mm he need not look any further than this beauty. http://www.raymondwalley.com/carriages/gwr/beetle.html
  8. Thats unbelievable as I swear I saw them on the platform just the other day.I always thought Minnie would end up with the ganger Arthur Swidger.I just can't believe she had her head turned by a driver that uses the wrong side of the footplate. They've made a mistake there....
  9. Still no sign of the Finching sisters. I hope they're ok ,its been a while since Mallard mentioned them in dispatches.

    EBay madness

I've got that King and I thought it was rare.
  11. If you have the Russells coach book appendix, figure 606 shews a bloater given a new lease of life as a parcel van with Old Oak branding number 2694.The doors were made of iron.My model has plastic ones [!] the same bloater type.
  12. I blame the photographer Peter Gray as thats been lifted direct from one of his photos.Albeit from June '61 ! As for the bloater.Yes and no as I've rebranded it to a parcels van as some were converted after the decline in fish traffic. Not 100% correct but its good enough for my needs.
  13. No its fine and the Grange will get its lamps at the weekend.I took them off for safe keeping before I sent it back to Hornby.Enjoy your shopping trip. More of 4547...
  14. One of the advantages of getting my Grange back from overhaul is its now available for piloting duties. A busy scene as 6814 pilots Castle class 5011 'Tintagel Castle' on a Paddington to Penzance express.Whilst on the branch 45xx class 4547 arrives with a 'mixed' from Kingsbridge. More to come....

    42xx tweaks

I think The Stationmaster was talking to 247 about doing an etch for them.Nice work Al.I like your barn too.
  16. Yes I'd noticed that too.Perhaps the cleaners at Hornby shed gave it a clean with an oily rag whilst it was there.Seriously I'd written her off as the crosshead was well mangled but a chance chat with 46444 of this parish encouraged me to send her for repair.Good as new now and foc too.Top marks Hornby. The colour might be the weathering it has. Now you're asking but its over 8 years I think. When I got the use of a suitable home for the size I needed. The kids old playroom.Hence you may see stars painted on the walls in some photos as opposed to seeing stars on the layout.
  17. One pannier not to be found in that Irwell series and definitely not in this shade of green Spams is this.......
  18. Its like all the 4 6 0s look the same as well. You probably will think its a waste of money but there's a fabulous book series from Irwell Press devoted to various classes of panniers here http://www.irwellpress.com/acatalog/GREAT_WESTERN_RAILWAY.html Buffalo's your man. More of 6814 ...
  19. It certainly is and what a sight she is on a van train to Plymouth.6814 'Enborne Grange' is fresh from overhaul.
  20. An unexpected bonus this evening when returning home from work to find a loco waiting for me that's not been shewn on this thread yet.Back from repair with a new chassis no less.Photos to come soon.
  21. Final few for tonight.Just been looking at the other end of the layout to this where I've made an attempt at the sea wall or is it Cockwood harbour.I need to have another go at the water as its not good and needs improving if I can. Has anyone a link to a layout photo where the sea/beach looks very realistic.Gordon Gravett's river on Pempeol is fabulous but is still in water movement. In the meantime is that Don Breckon sketching ....
  22. That sounds like my sort of trip there 81C .Its also Devon this year for me too.As for the King. Its back in its box and will probably stay there for the time being while I weigh up my options. More daisies anyone ?
