Preston was always a good place for Class 47's with loco changes on the Blackpool, Manchester, Liverpool services as well as "The European" 47281 in the South bay of Preston c.1983 47510 Fair Rosamund Preston c.1983 47517 Preston c.1983 47593 Galloway Princess at Preston c.1983 its still going strong as 47790 in Northern Belle livery with DRS today. This reminds me of one of those +3 connections you’re on the 47 running on time fortunately the 50 on ECS is late into Exeter but your by the window door waiting to glimpse the number..... then the train stops .... your off and running....up the stairs.... across the bridge ... Two views of "Haymarket" 1st View 47711 powers into Haymarket Station c.1986 looking at the photo brought back a smell to mind of Fuel. Haymarket always seemed to "reek" of fuel..... looking at the track I see why.... But do the big boys need to go down the Kickstarter route and pay Kickstarter 5% + payment handling when they could host the pre-orders themselves. For example Hornby/Bachmann/Dapol/Rapido could host the pre-orders themselves and once the target is met they make the order. It just needs the right marketing which Ben/Mike were good at. I beleive this is the way Rapido currently work it just hasn't caught on over here yet but it looks like were getting there. The Pendolino project probably actually achieved its target for the costs of production the final missing % was probably made up from the fees + VAT . The only thing that Kickstarter helped with was showing Rapido there was a market. I think Kickstarter is ideal for the smaller business needing a cash injection to get their idea off the ground.
