  7. It sure was.. It must have been the most reliable 47 either that or it had clones as wherever you went in the mid 80's it was there... Here it is at Preston c.1986 Cheers Steve
  8. Thanks for the info on maximum pledge it was something I was unaware of although Im sure Ive seen it done before not kickstarter another crowd funder where it got to the last day and suddenly they 'found' enough "off-line" pledges to send it over the goal and secure the funds that were pledged.... but as you say its not on kickstarter so all or nothing Steve
  9. There's more reviews and videos over on this thread http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/79840-Hornby-announce-dcc-sound-at-£25-a-pop/?p=1745784
  10. What I don't get is why doesn't Rapido just pledge any remainder of funds that are possibly missing to the Kickstarter fund to push it over the line. Unless this is plan A + a half The reasons are 1. You get all of the money up front now. 2. You get all of the details of who's buying and they are committed to buying. 3. You may loose some people if the Kickstarter fund is unsuccessful eg. Me I did pledge to support the hobby and the idea of the Kickstarter model (ok only a 2 car set but better than nowt) however I'm not interested in what I pledged for so if the Kickstarter funding doesn't work then as they say "I'm out" as it will be made regardless there maybe others who wont follow through if it goes to Plan B on the other hand you may gain people who couldn't commit today. But its a risk 4. Rapido wont have to put in as much money up front as they would with Plan B. You could still offer a 50% deposit option for a limited time for those who want a set but don't currently have the full funding. I just don't understand why you would throw away guaranteed the current £176,992 in pre-sales But hats off to you for the effort you put into the Kickstarter model and I do hope it succeeds today on its own merits... Steve
  11. We haven't had any 50's for a while so heres 2 of 007 50007 Crewe Works open day 1984 50007 Plymouth c.1985 Cheers Steve
  12. To be honest never really saw it until I was uploading these photos... but going back over the photos so far it does look like it was common for the class 40 bogies around first two wheels to be a lighter shade than the rear two. I assume the lighter is just brake dust / general crap and the darker is a mixture of oil/fuel with it been more under the loco not sure of the correct terminology for the gunk? Very interesting though to bear in mind when doing class 40 weathering projects but thats what this thread is for so more 40 photos everyone . Steve
  13. A study of 40052 at York c.1982 hopefully some use to the modeller 40052 at York c.1982 sorry its a bit blurred oh for a digital camera.... 40052 nice Grill/bogie detail also subtle weathering less is more... 40052 other bogie and boiler port...... again some nice steaks of weathering. 40052 York c.1982 notice the different shades on the bogie as you get more into the loco the more oil there seems to be. Hopefully interesting to some.. Cheers Steve
  14. A study of 47/7 47708 around 1982 47708 number and TOPS data panel 47708 Name Waverley 47708 at Haymarket c. 1982 47708 front end detail c.1982 47708 buffer beam detail c.1982 Another view of 47708 at Haymarket also c.1982 Hopefully useful to someone. Cheers Steve
  15. Hi, Will the packaging be unique for those pledging against any future releases? This will give those who pledge more of a collectors item feel for their sets? Thanks
  16. Thanks for that.. Looking at the figures I've gone for a 2 car set seeing as there are potentially 217 sets that could be upgraded to add the additional cars and only 7 people going for the 2 cars ... 8 now... it looks a good idea also 2 cars for £30... bargain. If they stick to producing the exact requirments the 8 boxed sets of 2 cars maybe something of a collectors item surely thats a Limited issue?? Steve
  17. How about Railtour photo stops anyone done them before? or even just Railtour headboards on specials. This kind of thing 40122 1Z37 0930 Birmingham New Street -Welsh Branches Pathfinder Railtours 23.05.1987 Seen at Ebbw Vale Cheers Steve

A nice train to model note the 3 different shades of Dutch livery on the wagons. 33025 with 3 Dutch wagons in tow looks to be concrete sleepers they look to short to be sleepers look to be banded together with steel bands perhaps they are concrete trunking as below? Formation looks to be Class 33, OCA, ZDA, ZDA is this right ????? Cheers Steve

  24. A couple of photos of 47537 always seemed to have the biggest nameplate around at that time.... 47537 in railblue approaching Carlisle with the Scenic Settler railtour 07/04/1984 I remember the sight of the 47 on this train was a bit disapointing perhaps I was hoping for the class 50 which had worked the train into Crewe... 47537 now in Large Logo livery at Exeter with a parcels service c.1989 Cheers Steve
